i'm with hoeboy and bomberman.... they know what's goin' on.... people are annoyed with the lakers cuz the way they play is so systematic, so effective, and their defense is so stifling... don't hate when the lakers regulate...

Hey guys, news flash: nearly all of the NBA players are trash-talking tools who will be broke within 6 month of retiring. Why do you think they're having attendance problems? Too much yap....not enough game. Even die-hard fans get tired of that after a while.:disgust:

It's a shame that the game which Magic, Bird, Malone(s), Thomas and many others made great in the 80's has become what it is today.. A bunch of illiterate misfits which I can't even watch because of lack of tact these players have. Like fausto said; the revenues and attendance is down and IMO will continue this trend despite a pickup in our economy. What gets me is the players are still unhappy with thier "low" saleries.

Trash talking is one thing but chocking coaches and hitting refs is another. In any other job you would be arrested, fired and sewed. But in the NBA today they are protected and they know it so they just keep pushing the boundies more.. (well except the 3 point line :))

If you talk about great players that are not cocky, somebody mention John Stockton.

If anyone disagrees that he is a great player, just look at the numbers.

All time leader in assists and steals. :p

there's tons of cocky players. I think the list though should not include the ones who can actually back themselves up.

Reggie Miller's cocky but he's backed it up time and time again. Same as Michael Jordan, Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, and even *ugh* Kobe Bryant.

The one's who can't back themselves up would include Tracy McGrady (this year's playoffs), Jermaine O Neal (After a huge game one he was almost nonexistent in the rest of the series), the Blazers (that Kobe Stopper thing and the whole "we aren't afraid of the Blazers thing" really didn't come out too well).

Whatchu talkin 'bout Willis? Thomas, Laimbeer, Salley, Mahorn, and Rodman...5 of the most humble and soft-spoken players I've ever seen play. :D

he's one of the greatest players of all time, and he isn't cocky one bit, but he sure as hell is one of the dirtiest players in the game.

yup you got it. they did a special on isaiah thomas. basically his rule was to win ANYWAY you can, which means being physical if you have to. he influenced the entire team and basically they were probably one of the most physical team in the NBA, that is until thomas got knocked down by malone (i think) and needed 10+ stitches to stop the bleeding.

I don't recall anybody ever hitting a ref or any two players getting to the point of being able to throw punches that land. most of the time, fights are broken before they get past the initial grabbing. and players ARE fined.

yes john stockton has my respect. he rarely whines like most other players do when they get caught.

<<Reggie Miller's cocky but he's backed it up time and time again. Same as Michael Jordan, Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, and even *ugh* Kobe Bryant.>>

reggie miller has nothing to be cocky about. he's a whiny lil bitch. back when the lakers whooped their ass in the finals, miller had the audacity to comment on how kobe and shaq are so greedy that they cannot be content with what they got but want more. WTF? all reggie does is whine whine whine when he doesn't get his way. he should really carry that chalk powder with him or something so he doesn't have to go to the table to get it every frickin' minute ;)

btw, how can you guys forget to add vlade divac to the list? he had the balls to say utah is suck but yet his team is struggling to get a win.

We need to make a list for NBA's biggest complainers/whiners. Steve Francis, Scotty Pippen, and Nick Van Exel.

nick van exel simply thinks he's a really good underrated player. that guy really hotdogs the ball whenever he gets a chance  he's good but i don't think he's up to the level that he think he is.

almost all good players are cocky, such as Shaq, Jordan, and Bird

speaking of reggie "monkeyboy" miller.. i was watching the nets game yesterday and watched him trying to loose hs man thru screens... i noticed he runs into a lot of opponent players & flops like they ran into him. the guy deserves an oscar.

whoever makes alot of money, usually ends up being cocky .

Damn those Escalades with 20" rims, or whatever they like to have these days. Heck, if I was good at basketball, i'd do it for a living wage, no need to bankrupt the fans by rasing ticket prices to about .... a week's pay.

My votes go to Paul Pierce, Rasheed Wallace (the new Mr. T) and Tracy McGrady.

IMHO, Reggie was too funny to be a jerk. Sure he had a rivalry with Spike Lee and the Knicks, but I remember the day he present Spike with a beautifully wrapped present. Inside, was an autographed Reggie Miller jersey. :D
