So much drug ignorance. Smack is heroin you fools, and crack is _not_ the same as normal coke. Normal cocaine hydrochloride isn't that bad for you - it's just like coffee, you'd be amazed at the number of perfectly normal people who do coke.

Not true, the taxpayers will need to pay for the fvckup to go through rehab and all the hospitalizations.

Oh no, I'm high! I'd better go to hospital, AHHHHH!!!... no.

And even if I did, since when does the taxpayer pay for madical care in the US?

When the police pickup some random person coked out of his mind and bring him to the hospital who the hell will pay for it his family members (that is if he has any?)
Yes you turd, taxpayers will pay for it.

His insurance? Coke is expensive, it's a rich man's drug. You're confusing cocaine with heroin. Anyway, coke is a stimulant, it doesn't make you pass out wasted on the street where the cops will pick you up. Quite the opposite.

Listen, not sure if you work in the medical field or not BUT regardless of what drug it is ( excluding weed) if you take enough of it you will end up either in a coma or in a comatose state. When we get a patient picked off the street drugged out of his mind, many times they have no identification on them, and we call them John Doe's. Some of them have insurance some of them dont, and when they dont someone has to front the bill. Do you know who fronts the bill? The taxpayers.

I don't work in medicine nor do I live in the US, so I'm gonna have to believe you about these guys picked up off the street, but I'd still bet only a tiny minority are on cocaine, ecstacy, etc, and that heroin (which I don't approve of) is by far the most common.

Coke isn't bad for you? Why is it an illegal substance?

Well, if it was legal the government wouldn't have been able to make to tons of money selling yay-yo through the CIA. Not to mention the enormous profits reaped by investigating, arresting and incarcerating drug users.

Plus it is psychologically addictive and some have found that to be too strong.

Very true. It's the drug of choice amongst many white collar professionals and for most of them it's mainly just a social and recreational addiction. And that's where they leave it.

fixed

BTW, why are so many people defending cocaine use?

The only thing that pisses me off is that I know I'll be paying for her kids to piss away a public education at a 20k per year clip and then support them their whole lives on welfare.

addivtive video games but not life threatening vs. addictive drugs that can kill on first use and will give you a life sentence in prison.

Well... As ridiculous as it sounds, think it out for a moment. First off, there are plenty of people who completely ruin their lives and dreams by wasting away in front of video games. Likewise, there are plenty of people who do the same with drugs. However, there are also many people who have gotten into the drug scene and learned a lot of things, interacted with a lot of people and come out of it a better person. I think she is saying that if she had to chose between her kid being a loser video game addict versus someone who gets into the wrong crowd for a time in their lives, she would rather the latter. We're obviously not talking about the worst case scenario in this event, and you're just ignoring real life if you think that everyone who has ever tried <insert drug here> has become an addict or a junkie. Pay too much attention to the DARE commercials as a kid?

I dunno, I've never seen a video game that destroys various areas of your brain and/or causes death, so I think I'd still rather my kids stick with them than most narcotics.

Edit: on a somewhat-related note, many of the same types of therapy (other than aversive drug treatments) that work on things like cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and gambling would also work on video game addiction, seeing as how they all take place via the same or similar mechanisms. It's just that many people don't view video game addiction as a serious enough problem to warrant rehab.
