I'm looking for tan slip on shoes and found a pair that nearly matches my requirements with the exception of a silver strap and a (faux?) leather running across the front.

Cobblers, do you think it is possible to remove the strap across the front of the shoe without leaving any marks? See picture below.

The strap is a very attractive part of the shoe. Wear it as it was meant to be worn.

Is the tongue really one piece? Given than modern shoes are made with the smallest scraps of leather possible, the strap may bind two pieces of leather together. Even if the tongue is one piece, the strap is certainly masking and reinforcing the area where the elastic holds the tongue to the sidewalls.

That shoe is ugly. I am not taking fashion advice from you.

Of course it's ugly. It's a penny loafer. It is less hideous than what you posted though.

As loafers go, this isn't bad. I might even wear something like this.

This is more my style. I have this shoe in dark brown and I wear it to work most of the time. It goes with khakis, black slacks, even goes with jeans. And it's comfortable.

You may be able to get a blacksmith to do it, worth checking. If you plan to add any enchantments to it I would do that first though as it will use up less points if the shoe is not already modded. So check the mage NPC first.

Just buy a shoe without the metal strap? Oh, and square toe shoes are a fashion faux pas.

Here is a nice brown loafer for you. Personally, I prefer an Oxford myself.

Try to find a similar shoe without the buckle. Removing that will probably mean the leather under the buckle is lighter than the rest of the shoe. The small pieces attached to the buckle will have to go to, leaving stitch holes in the leather

Hell yes to the 5th Aves. I got some in black recently to compliment my walnut Strands and merlot McAllisters.

Wanting a pair or 2 more so I get longevity out of them. Over a year in on the Strands and McAllisters.

They really do make a great shoe. I have two pair of Allen Edmonds and I want more! My wife thinks I have a problem and she has forbidden me from buying anymore shoes.

Those McAllisters look nice. That or the Strand Cap-Toe Oxfords.
