I am redoing my home office and I have one cable outlet that I have been using for my cable modem. Can I install a splitter so I can watch TV from that cable outlet as well or will the splitter block the cable modem signal?

A splitter will work fine. I think you need to get one with the proper specs though, 1GHz+ iirc. Don't get it split more ways than you need; more splits = weaker signal.

Thanks for the info.

Does it matter that the signal for the TV is coming from a Sat dish? I have been seeing some 2GHz splitters that say they are for Sat signals.

I'm a little confused with the op question. He has been using the outlet for his cable modem but the signal is from a sat?

No, I have been using the outlet for my cable modem. I was wondering if there was a way to install a splitter so I could watch sat TV and still use my cable modem.

The satellite company probably put the coax outlet in his wall for him

No, you'd need to run another cable. The Sat TV and cable modem are coming from 2 completely different sources. You can watch Cable TV and have a cable modem on the same line with a splitter, but not satellite.
