Trump proved that you can get away with lying esp. when you're not being fact checked.
Someone like Vance took that and ran with it.

Vance did better than I expected, but he comes across smug and Walz seems like someone I could have a beer with. And Vance did a pretty terrible job of actually answering questions. I also laughed when he started out his rebuttal to the question about why housing is so expensive "I'm not blaming immigrants for it" and proceeded to mostly blame immigrants for 2 minutes. He's more likable than Trump, but that's about as low of a metric as you can get. And he smartly started most of his answers and rebuttals with something about Harris and the illegals.

Walz was far too nice, nobody on team MAGA or the blue side heard anything to sway them. But the weird still undecided crowd might have actually been influenced by Vances constant illegal immigrants blabbering. And the moderators choice on what to actually fact check was odd. Vance lied a lot and they ignored most of it. They decided to ask Walz about lying about when he was in China. But there was no question to Vance about the shit he made up about Springfield. That was a huge omission and I wonder why?

MAGAs can't bitch about the mods not being fair, Vance even won the virtual coin flip for who goes last. Why was it a virtual one tho? That seems unnecessary, and how do we know it wasn't rigged?

I can't quite decide if both sides think a draw was acceptable considering the pluses and minuses both debaters brought to the show. I know for certain though that the Republicans believe a draw is a solid victory for them considering their whole campaign is based on a web of interconnected lies and disinformation starting with The Big Lie itself and going off a cliff from thereon in.

As well, coming away with a draw gives them a lot of elbow room to rewrite the whole debate as an indisputable over the top victory for Vance as a means to make potential voters forget about the constant flow of smoothly delivered lies and dodging self-incriminating answers that Vance perpetrated throughout the show.

It was obviously was rigged in Vance's favor starting with the rules they set and ending with, as you mentioned, how Vance got a whole lot of help from the mods not calling out the bulk of his lies.

Walz needed to attack more. He should have forced Vance to apologize to the Haitians for lying about them eating pets thereby endangering their lives.

He also missed an opportunity when the subject of abortion came up and Walz had the names of underage girls raped and being forced to carry a fetus to term. Multiple times Vance referred to that as unplanned pregnancies. Walz should have jumped in Vance's ass reducing their rapes to "unplanned pregnancies"
