Well the pieces of shit at CBS announced there will be no fact checking at this debate, which can only be to make the pathologically lying GOP party happy.

It will be 'up to the candidates' to fact check each other. I believe in Tim and his jedi debate training with Jedi Master Mayor Pete. Walz has said he is not a good debater but I believe preparation will be clutch here.

The mainstream media exists to sell dick pills and reverse mortgages to dying baby boomers. The last thing they want to do is upset their customers.
 
Didn't you all know that fact checking is a violation of the Republican's 1A rights to lie their asses off and passing it all off as the factual truth?

What CBS did was to bless Vance with a license to tell lies and cover those those lies with even more lies and simply run Walz over with'um. So if Walz is not able to stay ahead of that hoax generating steamroller, he will be forced into a backpedaling defensive role playing truth cop to Vance's bullshit frag fest and we all know catchy feely lies play a whole lot better than dull factual truths.

He should do what Harris did to Trump by warning the viewers of what to expect from Vance from the get-go, then keep pounding away at the "See? I told you all what he'd do!" and "There he goes again with the lies!!" and "What did I previously warn you of? Well there you have it".

It seems if Vance is allowed to lie at will and not back those lies up with hard factual evidence then Walz needn't fact check him with facts either. All Walz needs to do is keep reminding the viewers that Vance is repeatedly lying and have the CBS moderators query Walz over his accusing Vance of telling fairy tales and hoax horror stories, giving Walz the opportunity to go on the offensive with a serious dose of hell raising fury that the CBS moderators would die for and not cut off Walz's fact checking rampage with the time limit rule.

Of course, that CBS gave Walz their job of keeping Vance in check is mainly for the entertainment/ratings value and nothing to do with having a dull boring ratings murdering honest fact based debate.
 
I'm a baby boomer and am grossly offended by there being no fact checking. This is going to be more of a "reality" TV event rather than an honest political debate.

That said I place little weight on the supposed value of debates. They matter a whole lot to political junkies but few others. To me debate skills have little relevance to actual performance as President. And the VP debates are even more insignificant-I doubt they ever moved the needle even a tiny bit.

I may watch this one though-I find Walz's stump speeches both informative and a breath of fresh air. OTOH Vance is so reviled that he has nothing to lose and everything to gain from his performance in the debate.

I do think some ground rules should be set though. Most importantly, what will the drinking game be?
 
Big fail by CBS there for sure. Trying to appease the intellectually bankrupt liars of Team Treason while giving their lies a pass harms America.

Wendy McMahon should be ashamed of herself.
 
I'm very interested in seeing how they prep Walz to deal with this guy who is going to nonstop lie. I'm going to watch nervously but cautiously optimistic.

I think faith in mayor Pete’s prep is well placed. But of course I am still nervous. Should be rollicking.

Will there be an audience? If they allow pen and paper Walz should just keep his own lie counter and show the audience at the end. Remind viewers every time Vance lies. In fact if he has to use up all his time countering the Vance lies so be it.

It would be really funny if he just made up a story Vance is recovering from sylhillis and hopes he recovers. Follow that by telling the audience he just lied but did so to make a point. What it does to trust if we go the JD route of being allowed to make stuff up as he admitted.

I think the “Traitor Tim” bit is an effort to put some wind in the sails of Comer’s new investigation.

Looking forward to Vance asking Walz with a straight face: “Are you really a Chinese communist???”, to which Tim will immediately reply “Are you really a couch fucker???”

Why watch any of this performative bullshit? Certainly this is a shitshow to not have fact checking, they might as well have it take place in a cage or make it a game show, at least that might be somewhat legitimate, but all of this "debate" stuff is just pointless. This type of shit is exactly why our politics is pointless garbage as well. Until people move on from this type of crap we'll never have any chance of having worthwhile government.

I maintain that debates are a generally bad format to start, but the lack of allowing any sort of fact checking or push back by moderators makes it even worse. You're leaving it up to a relatively uninformed audience to decide who to believe based on their feels alone.
 
Why bother to even pretend to be journalists at this point CBS? You are a joke of a news organization, but you have plenty of company, most of the mainstream media is horrific these days, sanewashing Trump and not calling out the constant insane shit he says while you hyper focused on Biden's every misstep for months.
 
As a surprise Walz should open with an apology for the Haitians of Springfield for the threats to their lives brought on by Trump and JD Vance. The lies have been debunked yet they keep spreading them because they don't care about people and endangering their lives.
