Not a lifer, according to your post count.

Now, racism's illegal in any job, so report it. Keep the cool, racism isn't legal on the work-force the last I check. If you over heard them talking like this in well, their own house and then that's a different story ya hear.

ok, obviously the anandtech community is a lot less sensitive to these things and intolerant than I thought, how unfortunate

Congratulations. This is the discovery of the century. Look up some OT posts containing the word "Black" and you'll see exactly where race goes on these forums. 😉

ATOT is not the place to discuss racial issues. P&N is.

Racism is perfectly legal. Discrimination isn't. Racism refers to the belief set, discrimination refers to using it against someone.

Just to get this straight, You took offence to a comment:

That was not about you.
That was not directed at you.
That was not racial in any way.
That you heard though a wall.
That was spoken by employees that were off the clock.

You can of course tell HR about it. Hopefully, there is even a anon way to do it. That is what HR is for. Thank god I do not work in HR, because the first thing out of my mouth would be something along the lines of' "stop wasting my time." How thin skinned do you have to be to possibly take offence at that? How do you expect to function in society of you take offence to every comment made against an idiot, who happens to be of the same race as you? (This is an assumption on my part BTW)

Oh, and by the way, if you are going to take offence at stupid stuff like that, then I am going to have to take offence at your comment of

This is clearly a comment that lumps all lifers on AT together into the "no life" group, with a distinction of all male members. Granted, this is not racial, but it is profiling. You have done the same thing you said your co-worker did. I respectfully submit you need to grow up.

first of all, u make too many assumptions, it was not through a wall, it was like 7ft away right through a doorway, and they werent off the clock, they take little breaks and they dont have set hours that they work, they go and do what they do and then hang for a bit then come back. regardless, they were on company property engaging in making racist comments

Intolerant? You want to fvck with someones livelihood over something you think he was implying.

I too would feel uncomfortable fvcking with a man's livelihood, but if there's one guy who doesn't treat like his job like his life depends o it here, it's the guy who'd talk politics at work. There's no real upside in talking about politics at work.

Yea, this is what I meant in the first place, my apologizes.

I was referring to the guy posting back to me saying "mr. lifer" not saying I am a lifer

No, it was not illegal.

Read the forum rules, and according to the forum rule it's an illegal post. Maybe not on a federal level but it was on anandtech level.

I made anti-Italian & anti-Irish slurs earlier, too. I should be shot...but not by a white man, because they're only good at holding minorities down...and they drive funny.

Dude, just go to your HR. You can report this, remain anonymous, and have no fear of retaliation. You have rights and there are laws in place to protect you in these situations.

Quit being a baby, you tard. I'm sure you are going to make it far in life with such a whiny attitude.

The word "Monkeys" is racist? WTF?!

ok stupid, monkeys implying black people
OK stupi, out of all the definitions I can find for monkey none seem to be slang for black:

I do however do see one that refers to a mimic which is what the blind followeres of Al and JJ would be.

mon?key

Pronunciation: (mung'ke), [key]
?n., pl. -keys,
?v., -keyed, -key?ing.

?n.
1. any mammal of the order Primates, including the guenons, macaques, langurs, and capuchins, but excluding humans, the anthropoid apes, and, usually, the tarsier and prosimians. Cf. New World monkey, Old World monkey.
2. the fur of certain species of such long-haired animals.
3. a person likened to such an animal, as a mischievous, agile child or a mimic.
4. a dance, deriving from the twist, in which the partners move their hands as if climbing a pole and jerk their heads back and forth.
5. Slang.an addiction to narcotics.
6. any of various mechanical devices, as the ram of a pile driver.
7. Coal Mining.a small passageway or opening.
8. Brit. Slang.the sum of 500 pounds.
9. Australian Informal.a sheep.
10. a monkey on one's back, Slang.
a. an addiction to a drug or drugs; narcotic dependency.
b. an enduring and often vexing habit or urge.
c. a burdensome problem, situation, or responsibility; personal affliction or hindrance.
11. make a monkey out of, to cause to appear ridiculous; make a fool of. Also, make a monkey of.

If he said porchmonkeys, jigaboos, spearchuckers, or spooks you might have a gripe.

This monkey BS started with Howard Cosell and a bunch of idiots getting upset.
I call my daughter monkey all the time

If your HR dept was any good, they would have already taught you and the rest of your co-workers how to create a respectful work environment and solve these kinds of problems without someone having to run to momma.
