At school, I ran adaware on a friends old system....between 900-1000 problems were found. And I used to get suprised when Adaware found more than 5 at a time on my system, lol.

your posting in a pc forum, so many people will agree with you, but what about if you had a car problem. say your brakes were bad and you took them in to get fixed and the technician gets all pissed off and calls you an idiot cuz all you needed was break fluid.

kinda like you getting pissed off that someone doesn't use spybot or adaware.

That's pretty bad, but it's amazing how fast those things can add up. Seems like once you get one, it opens the door to a bunch more.

I run Spybot and Adaware about once a week and I run AVG scans daily.
But yesterday, my son went to a website looking for cheatcodes for a playstation game.

My wife got on the computer a little while later and was getting all kinds of pop-ups, then while trying to run Spybot, we got AVG virus detected warnings.

Spybot found several hundred problems, then adaware found some more, then a full AVG scan found 6 viruses and trojans. When I rebooted, I started getting more crap and I realized that I hadn't updated my virus defs for awhile. After updating them, AVG found 3 more viruses and Spybot and Adaware found about 100 more problems.

I do all the smart things like running AV software and using Spybot/Adaware and I still got hit pretty hard and had to waste several hours getting things cleaned up. I think every virus and spyware writer should be sentenced to spend 1 hour in a room with 20 angry users.

The president of the company I work for did the same thing. he brought it to me and 5 hours later, I had cleared well over 100 virus' and trojans from his machine. He was too cheap to buy a virus scanning program, and his daughter loved Kazaa. Not a great combo.

Heh, yeah my room mates little brother is like the porn +kazaa king of the south east. I get a call from her about every two weeks or so that its screwed up again so I go over and find thousands of problems, takes about 3 hours generally to get everything done. At least her parents pay well heh.
