is there some type of kit that zalman made for their cnps9500led with regards to the am3 platform, specifically the phenom x4 955?

That cooler has a mounting kit for AM2, which will work on AM3. The mounting system hasn't changed from S939 to AM3, and possibly AM3+.

Yes. Just align it to the center tab on the cooling mount on the motherboard.

Actually, AMD's CPU cooler mounting system hasn't changed since Socket 940.
