CNN using edited photo?

a few burning tires could make that much smoke.
What is the story that goes with the picture?
What context the picture is being sold in would go a long way in determining if someone is trying to 'sell' a story and faking a picture to go along with the story.

It's exactly the same. So you were saying? 😛
That doesn't prove anything. AP was using fake photos from Lebanon without knowing they were fake. That COULD be the case here.

Um, should I be wearing my tinfoil for this thread?

Umm..after the Lebanon fake picture show theres really no need too.

You might want to open your eyes before coming into this thread though, that would help.

It proves that CNN didn't doctor the photo in any way.

Please enlighten me, Richard. What is the point of doctoring a photo to add smoke to it? You suppose there aren't at least a dozen opportunities every day to see smoke rising over Baghdad? Where's the motive?

I believe the topic is "CNN using a doctored photo?" not "CNN doctored a photo?"

What would the point be to Photoshop those pics? Compared to the pics of the aftermath of car bombs those pics are rather innocuous

Sympathy of course..

Do you not get it? I suppose you don't. Sympathy of the American public for Iraq will be what decides this war, nothing else.

I'm not sure if you missed the entire debacle with the fake smoke pictures from Lebanon, but it was a big issue at the time, and still is.

Gotcha. Well, get back to me when you prove the photos are doctored. Otherwise, I seriously doubt this photo will engender anymore "sympathy" than the hundreds of blown up markets, dead bodies and destroyed humvees that spill out of Iraq every week. Good luck!

The only sympathy they'll get is if they themselves step up to the plate and start dealing with the terrorists themselves. We are tired of having our boys die for their alleged freedom when it's those cscksuckers themselves who are killing our guys. It's getting real hard for Americans to distinguish the good Iraqi's from the Bad Iraqi's. Take the sneak attack against the American troops a few days ago. The Iraqi Police and Troops who witnessed it (and let it happen) didn't do a damn thing because they said they didn't want to get involved with American vs American violence. Yeah right, since when has that happened there. I wouldn't doubt if they looked the other way on purpose. Unless those attackers were Caucasian or Black there's no way in hell they could mistake them for Americans.

Speaking of boredom and the pathetic MSM...

I turned on the tube briefly the other night, and I stumbled upon a Fox report from Iraq featuring . . . Michelle Malkin!

Ollie North, we hardly knew ye.

I burst out laughing. She was hanging out with some Army, dressed in fatigues, a helmet, and biker shades.

I think she was imploring them to assault the local AP office, but they looked skeptical.

Cmon Michelle!, there's always another school to paint.

GD, you *are* bored! Damn liberal media at it again, eh Al? 😉
Looks like it is. "Raise for poor people gets nowhere in Senate" is CNN's headline for the failure of the minimum wage bill. Spin, spin, spin!
Really? It reads, " Minimum wage hike hits the wall in Senate." Did they change it? Or did you introduce your own spin onto the spin? 😛

You better tap your sarcasm meter, bud. I've always maintained that CNN is biased left and Fox is biased right. I've studied both fairly intently.

No, I copied and pasted that title from the front page of CNN.com, where it could be found most of the day today.

Like I said, I have no problem recognizing left-leaning bias. So, about that photo . . .

So has anyone proven the photo to be doctored? Or is it safe to remove my tinfoil now?

No! Because they are at it again....
Just kidding - this one looks much more legit 🙂

Well thank goodness ... this whole thing was just a false alarm. I mean there's nothing quite like "extra smoke" in the air to elicit anti-war sympathy pains. Uh, or something... 😀
