I missed the specific footage being discussed in this thread, but I just turned on CNN and saw a tape of a reporter looking over an abandoned Iraqi APC outside of Tikrit. I suppose he doesn't realize that it's a military target and could be bombed from the air at any time...?

He said that they are traveling in a 7 car convey and have reported it to Centcom so they won't be bombed. Each vehicle is clearly labeled with TV on it too.

Just saw the footage seems they were shot at from the check point and from another vehicle as they left Tikrit. That was pretty stupid of them.

Maybe you should actually watch something before commenting on it, because you sound extremely ignorant. They didn't 'run' any checkpoint. They always drove up to the checkpoints, and the guards let them through... even one of the checkpoints, the guards told them not to film them, and they obeyed. At one checkpoint, they got ambushed.

This is false you must not have watched it either. They stopped at the checkpoint and the army let them through but told them to shut the camera off. They drove about a half a mile down the road and stopped another person came over to them and said that they would have to get permission from Basque party headquarters to film they realised that the place was hostile and decided to leave but not stop at the checkpoint so they blew by it really fast and was fired upon by the guards, the bodyguard they hired got out his machine gun and returned fire at which time they were being chased by some unfriendlies that got along side of them and were fireing pistols at them, it is not clear what happend at that moment but they got away, the last thing was that they were under fire and have not been heard from since.
They were NOT ambushed. You are the ignorant one.

First off all, i didn't entirely comprehend that, since i'm not going to take the time to put in punctuation marks where you obviously left them out. But you're an idiot. They were clearly stopped when they were first fired upon.

I saw the footage myself a few times and for a fact they were stopped once, told to goto the govorner to get permision to tape. Then later they drove straight passed a checkpoint, pretty fast, and were shot at. When they left tikrit they drove passed that same place fast again and were shot at also.
