We were losing almost 800,000 jobs per month when Obama took office. With those kind of monthly numbers unemployment was going to do nothing but go up after he took over. Would it not follow the worst recession since the great depression would be followed by a similar recovery? By all accounts we are coming out of it.

In the housing industry and the trickle up effect. Were not coming out of shit. Your a dreamer. Obummer sucks but he sucks better than Romney

Listing his name as Barack Hussein Obama is a clear dig on the fact he has a common muslim name for a middle name.

You're trying to reach out to your racist brethren who hate muslims and therefore should hate obama as well.

You are what is wrong with america.

It's a clear dog whistle.

So given that pretty much no other President has been called by his full name (excepting W Bush, and that only because he has the same first name as his dad, another President), what is your awesome reasoning why certain bigoted GOP members consistently use Obama's middle name?

I haven't seen anyone call Romney Williard? (since he goes by his middle name)

I haven't seen anyone call Paul Ryan Davis

I haven't seen anyone call John Kerry Forbes

I haven't seen anyone call Sarah Palin Louise

Please explain to all of us non-bigots about this great disparity, it should be entertaining. Cognitive dissonance FTL!

Then why is it that it is always someone from the right of the political spectrum who list obama's middle name? You rarely see anyone from the left do it.

must be why all of you on the left call George Bush "george w bush" . .. how racist. the w must stand for "white" and you guys are all racist.

is that not his name? is that NOT his name? thanks for playing though. irregardless the points made in the article I linked are factual are they not? Obama has had his shot, his 4 years and has done. Time to move on. As for the mess republicans left for him. . . .are you all aware that he was the one who started the whole housing market crash back in chicago on the claims of racism? yeah; look it up!

Don't play that game, honestly. Bush was commonly called George W. Bush by people on both sides, at least in part to distinguish him from the OTHER President George Bush. Obama, on the other hand, is pretty much ONLY called Barack Hussein Obama by conservative pundits saying something negative about him (and "Hussein" is often emphasized). Using his full name is pretty pointless since it's not all that common for political figures and it's not like we're going to confuse him with the OTHER Barack Obama in US politics.

Either you're being stupid or you think everyone else is, because the "I just happen to emphasize his middle name for no particular reason" explanation is ridiculous.

Hardly any of the points being made are "factual", at least when it comes to using them as a reason to vote against Obama. Things like economic numbers are open to interpretation anyways, and it's REALLY a matter of opinion when it comes to whether or not they represent an argument to not vote for Obama.

Just as an incredibly easy example, the gas price argument. The article's author points out that gas prices went from $1.84/gallon to $3.80/gallon while Obama was President. Those numbers are correct, but the author just throws them out there with the apparent belief that they speak for themselves. Nowhere does he argue HOW Obama caused gas prices to go up, or how a different President could have or would lower them. The $1.84/gallon number also implies that this was a representative cost for gas pre-Obama, when it fact that number represents some of the cheapest gas in the past decade. The argument in the article is that Obama caused gas prices to "more than double", which becomes a lot less persuasive if you see that $1.84 was low even by pre-Obama standards.

Basically that article was a bunch of talking points we've heard quite a lot before. It wasn't that great an argument to start with, and it certainly hasn't gotten better with the thousandth repetition. And starting the foreign policy section with casually dismissing the increasing use of drones to kill terrorists, killing Osama bin Laden and ousting (and killing) Gaddafi makes the author sound like an idiot if you ask me. If you're going to make an argument for not re-electing Obama, it would seem like a good idea to make it sound like you're not just coming up with excuses to not vote for someone you're already dead set against.

Incredibly weak. Maybe because using the name "George Bush" doesn't distinguish junior from his father? Either you're an idiot, or a troll.

I happen to respect you enough to feel confident that you know full well that the only reason Republicans use the President's middle name is to imply that he is or might be in some way connected to enemies of the United States. As another poster wisely wrote, it is in essence a dog whistle to play on people's prejudices.

As I said, Bush is the exception because:
1. His father, also a President, has the same first name
2. W Bush actually used it himself, it wasn't started by others.

So since you claim no racism.bigotry, why do you selectively use the full name for only one person? Bigot much?

We will expect every post from you in the future to use the full name of all political person's otherwise your bigotry will be showing (again).

Sounds like the OP is too afraid to come out of the closet and admit his birtherism/racism/bigotry or whatever irrational hatred he has of Obama.

Oh, there we go, full on bigot and birther to boot. Thought so.

Once again, people that use his middle name seem to all be partisan hacks and racist bigots to boot.
