Sure we've problems, who doesn't, but we acually have some balls. We have Mandatory Dentention. Anyone caught being here illegally is locked up.

We are currently coming back up on $5 in many parts of the country including where I am now (Chicago). It hit that mark in 2008 as well with the original Drive for Five as the oil execs in Oklahoma called it. I lived near Conoco Philips in Oklahoma in 2007.
Milk was $6 a gallon in New Jersey when I lived there in 2008.
Milk is again going back up thanks to fuel prices. Will probably hit at least $6 again.

Same case here mate, INS will kick in the door and take everyone in the room to jail too, and if you can't provide proof, poof! Your gone too..
The problem is, they don't really go after the illegals, surprisingly...
The illegals are often people who get here on a Visa to work and decide they just aren't going back to the hell hole they came from, believe it or not, so they start using a false identity, hence Identity theft..
Sadly though, I can't blame them for wanting change.
When the non-educated ones come here, it's not long before they realize there is no future here for them due to the economically difficult times we are now in. If you aren't in business you really don't belong in America if you come from another country, for $7.50 - $9 an hour is truly going to make you want to cry trying to raise a family on that, really... Inflation will force many of them deep into poverty. Many Chinese come here and the only job they can get is in a Chinese restaurant, it's sad..

Dunno about multiculturalism. Eventually descendants of immigrants assimilate to American culture, and there is no more multiculturalism. I have seen girls with a small Muslim scarf or a dot on their forehead speak in a very stereotypical Californian girl manner. If you were to close your eyes you would not be able to distinguish them from any other Californian. Especially with Children. I think eventually people like this will drop their religion, or at least it will be reduced to a minor role as American culture, values, and liberalism take over. Yes, that's right, liberal ideas will help these people to assimilate. Its the conservative mindset that keeps these people from assimilating. That is why California is such a successful state in regards to immigrants and the contributions they make (disregarding illegals, they don't count).

This is significantly true, many foreigners adopt the American Culture very quickly in the 2nd or 3rd generation, but not always, I don't think Asians assimilate into American culture as quickly as the Hispanics do. I like how open minded some foreign parents are & how quickly they pick up and even mock Americans to fit in. Some first generation immigrants can be very fun to be around, they are very cool too!

the census bureau is supposed to report on illegal immigrants as well. the population of which can really only be estimated because the illegal immigrants don't want to talk to census workers.
i still don't understand how apportionment counting illegals and the concept of one man, one vote is supposed to work.
anyway, 'hispanic' is a separate question from race on the census form so if you were to do a venn diagram hispanic would partially overlap several of the race circles.
who cares? what makes an American has nothing to do with ancestry, skin color or religious beliefs.

This is true, they are counted as "White". Our Congressional District is 75.8% White, but 68.1% Hispanic when you sort out the further break down.

How about that White Australia policy that wasn't officially done away with until 1973 and vestiges of which existed up until 1978?
It's also true that many people who have long generational roots in this country have become de-assimilated from American society. Many people here in the US who have had ancestors here in the US for well over 100 years are now incapable of assimilating into US society.
