CNN said:
The growing Hispanic population in the United States has reached a new milestone, topping 50 million, or 16.3% of the nation, officially solidifying its position as the country's second-largest group, U.S. Census Bureau officials said Thursday.

"Overall, we've learned that our nation's population has become more racially and ethnically diverse over the past 10 years," Nicholas A. Jones, chief of the bureau's racial statistics branch, told reporters.

Several trends emerged from the 2010 census, according to Robert M. Groves, director of the census bureau, and Marc J. Perry, chief of the population distribution branch.

The most significant trend, however, appeared to be the nation's new count of 50.5 million Latinos, whose massive expansion accounted for more than half of the nation's overall growth of 27.3 million people, to a new overall U.S. population of 308.7 million, officials said.

The Hispanic population grew 43% since 2000, officials said.

In stark contrast, all other populations together grew by only about 5%, officials said. The nation as a whole expanded by 9.7%.

It's no small wonder that many companies are screaming for Bilinguals everywhere you turn.... Furthermore, in Kansas City I can tell you first hand in the last 5 years the population has multiplied many times over! It's amazing how fast the changes came, and to consider that the census doesn't include the illegals, now that is scary!

Having grown in up in Kansas City I'm shocked how we quickly changed from a predominate white and black town to a town overgrown with migrating Hispanics. In some parts of the city their control is 70 to 90 % of the real estate. It's amazing over the last 10 years how those changes quickly came too, for though one may think 5 years may not make a difference, every 5 years it appears they are doubling or multiplying higher!

I'm telling you many of them have many kids too, and yes they are having sex like rabbits too, it's amazing! :D

I seen one lady standing on the corner with 8 kids and one in the oven, omw! (She told me they were all hers too.)

Please don't get me wrong I'm married to a Hispanic, so I'm not racist or bigoted at all, I call things like I see it!

When someone invades your country kill them. That tends to discourage them from doing it again.

Prepare people. The time is almost here.

You realize that the vast majority of these Hispanics are here legally or are citizens, and are therefore not invaders, right?

While it may not perfectly count them, the census does include illegals in its count. It basically counts people period.

The count currently includes non-citizens of all sorts, and is used for various purposes purely for allocating money where the population figure is really the relevant data. While the current policy could be debated, if census takers intensively interrogated assorted individuals about their immigration status, this would realistically deter some immigrants who are legally in the US from responding to their census as well. (I.E. what if somehow answering causes someone to find an issue with your immigration paperwork or status?)

It should be noted for the record that non-citizens being counted in the census is not a new phenomenon and has been the case since the earliest US Census counts.

We are taking over

The US is a Latin American country now. We now have high income disparity, an entrenched white elite and poor social services. I'm sure that's why all the Latin Americans come here though, to get more of the same.

ever heard of the melting pot?

Italians, Irish, Chinese, etc have been pissed on by the people who benefit the most for their work for generations..one would think that you could learn from history....

Dictionary definitions of xenophobia include: deep-rooted antipathy towards foreigners (Oxford English Dictionary; OED), unreasonable fear or hatred of the unfamiliar, especially people of other races (Webster's)[5]

The Dictionary of Psychology defines it as "a fear of strangers".[6] As defined by the OED, it can mean a fear of or aversion to, not only people from other countries, but other cultures, subcultures and subsets of belief systems; in short, anyone who meets any list of criteria about their origin, religion, personal beliefs, habits, language, orientations, or any other criteria. While some will state that the "target" group is a set of persons not accepted by the society, in reality only the phobic person need hold the belief that the target group is not (or should not be) accepted by society. While the phobic person is aware of the aversion (even hatred) of the target group, they may not identify it or accept it as a fear.

A clinical definition is:[clarification needed] An irrational fear of members of a certain race foreign to one's own, often adjunct and secondary to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Also: One of the attitude groupings characteristic of The Authoritarian Personality.[7] A Vietnam veteran witnessed members of the Viet Cong skinning his fellow soldiers alive. He developed hatred of people with Mongol eyelids. In both cases, the xenophobia was adjunct to PTSD.[8]

A xenophobic person has to genuinely think or believe at some level that the target is in fact a foreigner. This arguably separates xenophobia from racism and ordinary prejudice in that someone of a different race does not necessarily have to be of a different nationality. In various contexts, the terms "xenophobia" and "racism" seem to be used interchangeably, though they can have wholly different meanings (xenophobia can be based on various aspects, racism being based solely on race, ethnicity, and ancestry). Xenophobia can also be directed simply to anyone outside a culture, not necessarily one particular race or people.

Xenophobia has two main objects:

The first is a population group present within a society that is not considered part of that society. Often they are recent immigrants, but xenophobia may be directed against a group which has been present for centuries, or became part of this society through conquest and territorial expansion. This form of xenophobia can elicit or facilitate hostile and violent reactions, such as mass expulsion of immigrants, pogroms or in other cases, genocide.

The second form of xenophobia is primarily cultural, and the objects of the phobia are cultural elements which are considered alien. All cultures are subject to external influences, but cultural xenophobia is often narrowly directed, for instance, at foreign loan words in a national language. It rarely leads to aggression against individual persons, but can result in political campaigns for cultural or linguistic purification. In addition, entire xenophobic societies tend not to be open to interactions from anything "outside" themselves, resulting in an isolationism that can further xenophobia.

Your post has nothing to do with mine. (You just like to label people you disagree with as xenophobic because you are unable to have a rational discussion and prefer to demonize other posters so your childish psyche can cope.)

what planet do you live in where this comment is considered rational?

People come here for a better life. My family risked everything and packed up and immigrated into the US legally and put down roots. Tripe like that is demeaning and insulting to the generations of immigrants that created the country you think you love....

What part was demeaning? Sounds like you're really emotional about this and not really able to focus and have a discussion. Don't let me stop you from spamming and running though... not that interested in what you have to say.

Big deal. Just because someone has Hispanic ancestry doesn't mean that he speaks only Spanish or has some sort of unified Hispanic dream for how his life should turn out.

I call things like I see it!

You should look in a mirror. You'll probably see an idiot.
