CMS Content Management System

I am rebuilding a website from scratch and am going to create templates for all of the departments etc. I do not want to continuosly update them so I figure I can put in a CMS so that people in the respective department can login and edit their page.

I want to build the page, but have the editable regions to be edited using CMS.

Is this possible? Any links/ideas?

Ive played with PHPNuke before, it is a website unto itself, unless they changed it. I want my own website that can be edited, not conform to theirs.

Microsoft has a nice little app you can use it's called Sharepoint. Check into it.

If you don't want something too fancy or complex, just build it. I've built several small to medium CMS type beasts for various knowledge bases, clients, etc. If you're building the site anyway....

It's not that hard to build something that works.. but securing it is another matter entirely. I'd rather use some pre-built open source and well scrutinized CMS.

I don't think SharePoint is the appropriate tool, although SharePoint Windows Services is free I think with Windows 2003. SharePoint Portal Server costs money, but comes with great funtionality including a good search tool.

Microsoft does have their own Content Management Server though.

I would drather use something already out there as well, but most seem you have to use it their way, not tweak it to yours.
