CMOS Checksum Error - What's that?

I have an ABIT KR7A-RAID motherboard which I purchased 2 months ago. Recently, with the same settings that always worked, I start the computer, and I get a "CMOS Checksum Error. Defaults loaded." I go into the BIOS and change the settings to suit my computer and it works this time around. However, the problem seems to occur very frequently. What is the problem?

Try reseating your ram.
Check the CMOS jumper pin to make sure it's set to default.

1. Buy a new battery for the mobo. It will cost you $1.50 at KMart and is cheap insurance.
2. Unplug the PS, reseat your RAM
3. Clear the CMOS
4. Plug PS back in.

Reboot and go into BIOS and reset everything the way you like. That should fix it.

Battery shouldn't die in 2 months, look elsewhere.

take the cmos battery out for 24hrs

Just reset the BIOS to 'default setting', save & exit, then reboot.

I started getting this error everytime I booted on my MSI board Pro 2A board about a month after I got it. My first thought was the battery, a quick check with a multimeter showed the battery was completely dead. Replaced it and haven't had this problem since. So I'd definately try replacing the battery.
