From Phoenix/Award BIOS Tech Support Web Page:

CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded

Checksum of CMOS is incorrect, so the system loads the default equipment configuration. A checksum error may indicate that CMOS has become corrupt. This error may have been caused by a weak battery. Check the battery and replace if necessary.

Is that the only thing that that error could mean?

How do I check the battery?

How much is a new battery?

About the battery how old is your system, also in some cases (particular experiences), just take off the battery and cleaning it then putting agin will work.

The motherboard is new, the system is 1 year old but I sent the MB back and they replaced it. I am at a loss.

It means something in the bios is not set correctly...maybe ram timings, could be several things. :(

It's also possible the Hard drive isn't setup correctly in the bios.

More information on the system will be needed if anyone is going to be able to help you solve this problem.

Please include the system info (Maker & model #) in your next post.
Is the bios setup on a floppy disk? Is it a 5 1/4 disk?
