C'mon XFX

I had to open a ticket to get the Heatsink and fan replaced on my XFX HD 6750. The fan started grinding after 2 weeks. XFX sent a replacement heatsink and fan and didn't even bother to take the dust off it.

Makes me wonder if they even tested it.

Most of their power supplies are just rebrands. I'm pretty sure I remember reading my XFX 750W is a Seasonic rebrand.
That's no different from most PSU brands. Antec and Corsair don't make their own PSUs, though sometimes they give some input as to what components be used, modular connector design and such.

This sucks I just bought an xfx 6870 off newegg last night because I assumed they were a bit better than power color and sapphire. They were all the same price. Hopefully mine will be okay.

Just got a replacement XFX 6850 for my XFX 4890 with a grinding fan. This replacement has blocky video corruption even in the BIOS, amazing.

So I guess I'm looking at another week without a PC?

The good news is the fan works. If that makes any of you feel better.

I like your avatar Rambusted.

XFX support sucks. I had to send in my 6950 twice, totaling about 1 & 1/2 months of wait time, for a fault that I proved was there (even sending them screenshots) but they refused to recognize. They finally sent me a replacement card, even though they kept saying my card was fine (which it clearly was not). I have no idea what tools they use to test their cards.

I'll likely be avoiding XFX from now on.

I remember my first experience with XFX. I purchased an XFX Geforce 6600GT AGP from Newegg. I shook the box and to my surprise, it sounded like a rattle can. Opened it up and found a resistor bouncing around in the plastic packaging and I located where it belonged on the videocard. I was half tempted to just solder it back on. lol

I'm surprised by the dissatisfaction with xfx I always felt they were the premiere ATI partner, kinda like evga and nvidia.

At least the dust means it was working when they pulled it?

I had an awesome RMA experience when I bought a crippled XFX 4890 a couple years ago. They kinda made the mistake of getting me a replacement 6pin+8pin PCIe version of the 4890, because I didn't have a PSU with the 8-pin PCIe power connector, but then they just gave me an adapter when I asked for it. I hope their support hasn't gone that far down the drain....

I'm on my third Sapphire branded GPU. No issues yet. Thankfully.

I was missing a plastic piece back off of one of Power Supply connectors. I don't know if it popped off when I was pulling it through my cases cable hide-a-way from the rubber snagging it or if it was already missing and I missed it when I looked it over. Anyways they just sent me a strand of power connectors to take one of the backs off. Ncix from where I ordered it from also sent me one LOL!

That's what I thought too.

So who's ATI's premier partner now?

Well that wouldn't make much sense, considering XFX made graphics cards for both Nvidia and ATI for a long time (they cut ties with Nvidia relatively recently though).

As for their current "premiere" partner... I don't know, Sapphire?

XFX is probably the lousiest of the AMD GPU vendors, from what I understand.

^ this.

However all the nvidia users that used to love them, keep going on and on about Warrenties ect that XFX have.

Yeah thats all swell... but their cost vs quality of components on cards sucks.
You ll need that warrenty is your card is more likely to break down.

XFX are a new partner arnt they? *always*?
Nvidia didnt give them chips so they where forced to go AMD route (before then they where pure nvidia gpu makers).
Im surprised you think so, their cards usually have sub-par quality components that are cheaper than other card brand makers.

The reason people usually recammend them is because they like nvidia, used to use XFX, or like their warrenties.

I just bought my 3rd xfx card for my self, an hd7970 to replace my hd4870x2 and before that I had an XFX 6800gt, the 6800 died and since I did not register it within 30 days I was sol but the 4870x2 worked until I pulled it to put the 7970 in.

With the exception of my EVGA 8800GTS, my last 6 or 7 video cards have all been XFX. Funny enough, the EVGA card has been replaced twice while I never once had to RMA any of the XFX cards. I always bought their cards because of the double lifetime warranty, but I've heard they got rid of that?
