I'm recently new to these forums (even though i first visited them at 1998)
Sorry for reposting but i want to say these few words

I own or owned better, (because 2morrow i won't have it) an FX5800.(swap it for a 3dprophet 9800pro at a great price)
Ok ppl its CLEAR,UNDERSTOOD AND TAKEN FOR GRANTED if u want to, that Nvidia suffers a great defeat from Ati.
So far so good.
But i find it hard to understand why some ppl use phrases like NVIDIOT. Why do they have to make the others feel bad cauz they made a bad choice? I would like to see how they would have felt if they were in their shoes. And don't tell me that all these ppl that have bought ATI insted of NVIDIA never made a mistake before! After all we are a small comunity sharing ideas, opinions and sometimes criticism but for me this level is unacceptable.
OK be happy that you were well informed or lucky that u made the right choice but do it without this expressions.
If you do that the first one you insult is yourself. Show some dignity in GOD'S name.
As for me i wouldn't change my card if i didn't find that great swap price (only 60 euros), cauz i'm generally happy with this one, but i recognize the superiority of Ati at his point.
So plz let's try and be more careful unless someone is too stuborn to recognize somethin obvious.
Sorry for the long lecture.Take care everyone

your about to get flamed...

anyway, I think the term isnt just for anyone who bought the wrong card, but those who bought the card and say, it'll be ok i just wait for the next thing Nvidia will throw at me.

It's those who are dedicated to a BRANDNAME instead of a product that are fools. Ie: the Gforce 4's were great cards, but that doesnt mean you have to stay with a company forever

(though I must admit, all the tubes in my house are SONY, and all the speakers and amps in my car are ALPINE, but I'm willing to change if I see/hear something better)

OK i don't approve narrowmindness but think about those that don't afford to pay to swap it.Do u think it's fair for them?

I think it sucks for anyone who bought those cards, I've got 3 friends who have 5200's, but I did tell them not to buy those cards, and they didnt listen to me.

OK man i may sound a little tragic or overreacting or even a romantic one livin in a dreamworld where everyone should help each other.
If u can't accept what's obvious then you are a lost case. These ppl worth this behavior
It's all the others i'm concerned about and some of us callin them NVIDIOTS when they just make a simple mistake. And in the first dayz they were fired too, no matter their stand.

Its harmless. Its similar to supporting your favorite sports team and taunting your friends when their team loses. Your friends don"t get mad because you called them a "insert taunting fan name here". The fanATIcs are simply gloating over the nvidiots temporary misfortune.
Yes it sucks that people bought $500 cards that don't perform at $500 levels but most of those same people were bragging about their $500 card and how well it was going to perform in upcoming games (and they had every right to based on initial benchmarks). Those people should be pissed. The people that can't afford to swap I feel sorry for but you should not buy your vid card based on how you think it will perform in future games. The fact is my 9800Pro doesn't exactly post "super" numbers in the HL2 benchmarks but I'm glad it will play it. I think you are being a little hypersensitive about it and I'd hate to think anybody would go postal over being called a fanATIc or nvidiot. We are all friends here but if its to much for you I think my first post still applies.

You have to understand where the nVidiot term came from. It has nothing to do with a persons choice of an nVidia card purchase, good or bad. No one will call someone an nVidiot for buying a video card.

For years, there have been people who have been adamant that nVidia is the only card maker on the planet. Everything else is inferior. They attacked 3dfx, ATi, the Kyro cards, anything that wasn't nVidia.

Even now that it is a pretty well know fact that ATi holds a performance and technology lead over nVidia for the moment, they will insist nVidia is superior. No amount of facts will dissuade them from that stance.

A person who is blindly loyal to nVidia no matter how good or bad they are compared to the competition is defined as an nVidiot, not someone who owns an nVidia card.

The same goes for a fanATIc.

Hey jim, while you're trading up in hardware and asking God for strength, why not ask Him to toss in some grammar, spelling, and basic comprehension skills? I didn't even get past the first few sentences.

well, there are those who bought 5900/5900 ultras before the PS2/DX9 results were released. i dont blame these people be most reviews showed the 5900 ultra to be just as fast if not faster than the 9800 pro. THEN, Tomb Radier PS2 results were released. this was a big blow to nvidia as it exposed its lack of PS2. but people STILL bought the cards hoping the omighty det50's would fix everything. then came the HL2 benchies that showed how inferior the 5900/5900 ultra was the the 9800/9800 pro (and 9600 pro for that matter). this was supposed to be the nail in the coffin but people STILL buy the cards. det50 showed how piss poor the IQ has gotten but people STILL buy. these are the nvidiots who cant understand that the 5900/5900 ultra are inferior to the ATi counterparts
