CMC CD-R Vs. a TY CD-R - check it out!

It's not a link to a webpage but, recently i started buying cheaper cd-r's than what i usually buy. Those free after rebate cds are kinda temping sometimes. Well after using the cheaper cdr's which I used were Imation/Optimum (CMC), i had a couple of friends that the cds i burned for them didn't work in their car cd players/home cd players. Then i burned the same cd with Fuji cdr's (TY), and they work fine.

BTW: Burner is a Lite-On

After looking on the net i found the program CD Doctor. It scans the cdr for C1 and C2 errors, so i gave it a try and here are my results:

Imation Burned CD
Fuji Burned CD

I guess those cheap cdrs are cheap for a reason....i'll stay away and buy my Fuji/Verbatim!

reducing your burning speed can help as well ..😉 found 24x is the sweet spot for my 1989 Sony CDX15 ..😛 p.s. can we get a clearer view of ..uh..the view 😉

Yeah, well these aren't the same cd as you can see, but they are burned at the same speed 52x. CMC was 52x with safeburn on, TY safeburn off. Gwen Stefani is looking at you! lol

try running both tests again but reduce your burn speed if you would..(have a LTR-48246S..but still 😉)G. Stefani = yum 😀

actually ..worse on the Optimum ..

..oh..Optimum..heh..Imations discards/seconds(thirds..? ) ..thought you were having this with reg Imations

The First test was with Optimum, 2nd Imation. Err actually the other way around lol...my bad.. Both CMC... I'm all out tho..have 2 TY's left

i tried some non-TY TDKs once...no more...I'm all-fuji now 😀

and dayam, gwens hot 😉

you could try 16x or 24x for poor quality media. I alway do 16x anyway because my computer have slow harddrive and it cannot keep up, all thanks to maxtor laggy 15ms average access time hd. MY CD burner Liteon would have to wait for it to catch up therefore it just no faster then 16x no matter what because it will take at least 5min still 🙁

Did you look at his results for 24X? If you did, you'd clearly see that reducing the speed did not give any better results with the crappy media.

Thanks for the info, Trader05.
