CM9 Alpha for HP Touchpad...

Does anyone have a touch pad and sling box? I'm very interested in knowing the performance of the sling app on cm7 and cm9, but I don't want to drop the $30 beforehand. I don't think the sling player app is hardware accelerated for video, so I'm thinking it might work just fine on cm9.

I installed CM9 on one my 16 gb Touchpad. Everything is working fine except for the known bugs. I think the biggest improvement is the browser and the general smoothness. I love the quick controls feature of the browser. To enable it, go into the browser settings menu and go down to Labs and check to toggle on the Quick controls. It's like the Thumb Nav add on for the WebOS browser. I love using the stock ICS browser. It's so fast and smooth. I no longer feel the need to install Opera Mobile.

So, I still am using WebOS and want to know if I should upgrade to CM7, CM9, or just keep with WebOS.

I really only use it occasionally for the internet and ESPN3. I may use it more if I upgrade it. My biggest issue right now is I get a LOT of "Unable to load page" errors with the browser.

It dual boots so why not both? CM9 and WebOS.

I experience the same page loading problem with webos. One good thing about CM7 and CM9 is they both do not suffer from that on the touch pad. My impression is that, besides the page loading problem and lack of apps, webos is superior to CM7, but CM9 will probably edge out webos once it is a bit further along.

ICS will get all the development attention going forward. And it should. It's fantastic OS update by Google.

As it should CM7 is GB based which is phone based OS not Tablet based.

it's not entirely better.... not all apps are ICS ready, heh. Plex, for example, crashes on me. One of the big reasons I even use my tablet =)

Plex is not Gingerbread though, it's an app.

OS to OS, ICS is most definitely better.

I just installed the tablet version of SwiftKey x and it's amazing. The layout is weird at first but it makes perfect sense as you start to use it.

I hope the keyboard gets better. ICS keyboard on Galaxy Nexus is excellent. ICS keyboard on the Touchpad is passable. I don't know if it's the alpha build or because it's on tablet dimension but typing on CM9 ICS keyboard isn't good as I thought it would be. Let's just hope it's because it's alpha.

I've got SwiftKey X, tablet version. I like it over stock (though stock is much improved compared to gingerbread). It has a split keyboard for thumb typing in landscape and looks good, I'm going with the pumpkin theme.

Truthfully, the process is as simple, if not simpler than rooting a Samsung device. It'll take you ~5 min if you're familiar with command line and following directions. Also, with dual boot, you don't lose webos.

Took me about a half hour. I downloaded the wrong gapps version and had to start over.

I am very impressed so far.

Ha. Well I have CM7 on it and I do watch Netflix with it. So putting CM9 and no Netflix is the sticking point I'm having. Hearing all these good things about performance and the browser are getting close enough to making me just forgo Netflix for a while...

Edit: Nevermind, I see there is a special installer for moving from CM7 to CM9. Easy enough. I'm going to try it now!

Will CM9 just replace CM7? I haven't heard either way if you're "upgrading" or deleting CM7 to replace it with CM9.
