WHOA! I've been getting sick of the various bugs and failings of WebOS. Can't wait to get home and try this out.

Hell yes... can't wait to give this a try! However, I am really waiting for MoBoot to be finished so we can load into different OSes.

Edit: I guess moboot is working... who knew :)

This is an alpha so be wary!

Heh, I'm prepared to WebDoctor my TP if necessary. Due to the various problems of WebOS, I've pretty much limited it to web browsing and reading books. Both of these tasks will work better on Android as the apps for them are quite a bit better.

They do say that the doctor has a chance of not working so still be wary :p

I'll be waiting patiently until they come out with a more stable build to actually install this (or not, it's also possible that I just think 'what the heck' and get this done this weekend), but this is definitely great news! This CM port for TP is also dual-boot, so that's a plus as well for people who may want to keep their webOS installation.

I haven't really experienced anything significantly problematic with webOS, but the lackluster of (free, and/or quality) apps for it reduced this great hardware to just a browsing/skyping machine for me right now. There are some gems out there, but they're one in a hundred (pretty much literally), and most of them are paid apps without any trial period whatsoever.

I'd really want a release, I can not bare with webos any more.

In before the webOS fantards come in to roast you guys for even daring to suggest that webOS isn't the bestest OS ever made, trouncing all over the fragmented Android and crappy iOS.

You need to watch the video, the phone calls are ace.

That said webOS is pissing me off.

WebOS has fanboys?

To be fair, WebOS itself is actually pretty good (hell, it's Linux, just like Android). It's the apps (both onboard and marketplace) that suck hardcore.

And the bugs. Can't mention WebOS without also mentioning the bugs.

I had my fun messing with my Touchpad, but at the end of the day it was a rather heavy tablet that had a lot of random bugs that were too annoying to deal with everyday, so I sold it and continue to wait for better tablets.

Google should release a HC build for TP. That will help increase the size of Android tablet ecosystem significantly, more incentive for app developers.

While I'd love for them to do that theres not that many touchpads out in the wild plus whos going to support them after they have been flashed?

Its OK, I really wouldn't go so far as to say its pretty good though. Just about the only thing its got going for it is the card system and even that gets tiresome after a while.

Yeah. I'm thinking about waiting, but leaning more towards what the hell.

It crashed twice on me. My device wouldn't power on this morning. I installed last night and went to sleep. Had to do a reboot holding power + home.

I came back home for lunch to take a dump (TMI) and read Pulse News on the toilet. Put it down, plugged it in and left. I returned and the freaking thing needed a soft reset again.

Yikes.

It works surprisingly well for an alpha.

Unfortunately it's just too rough around the edges right now to be usable. Web browsing gets randomly slow sometimes, battery drains regardless of if in sleep mode, wifi shuts off if I power off the screen, etc.

They'll get this in shape. Just give it time. Really hoping they will port ICS to this badboy.

Thanks for the heads up. I finally took the Touchpad out of the box and installed CM7. It works really well for an alpha. The Touchpad looks like a really good deal now.

I couldn't instal cwm with it or it wouldn't boot. Is there anyway for me to install gapps without cwm?

Glad to see this working, but how much longevity will it have? HP only did a limit run to fill some TP orders, but so far as I know, the TP and WebOS are dead. Not sure how many TPs are actually in the wild, and of that number, how many are in the hands of people who will install CM or other custom builds?

Especially with an array of 7in, 8in, 9in, and 10in devices running Android natively, with quad core chips coming as early as November.
