I didn't see anyone saying CM7 is already much better than WebOS. I see people pleasantly surprised at the progress of CM7 and how well the alpha runs on the Touchpad. Many of us like WebOS, myself included. 3.0.4 is a nice update from HP. But the ability to run Android/CM7 is sweet and having the option of multiboot is even better. It's like having one's cake and eating it too.

Not so much on here, but other places on the internet. I've seen a lot of people getting so excited that they could finally get rid of the "POS" webOS, as if an alpha version of CM7 is really that much better (it isn't). It's very confusing...

But no, I am definitely surprised at the progress that's been made so far. Can't wait for more stable versions!

Are you sure you have that one. Its not the same fix as in the guides. Before I did it I couldn't find dolphine hd in a search. After it showed no problem and let me install it.

Did you maybe install the other store update to 3.2.0? That one messed me up!

Typing in CM7 now using dolphin hd browser. Just searched the store and twitter showsup

hrm, i'll have to double check then, I could have the wrong one.

There is a new problem now though... ICS looks much much better =) I want that now, heh. I wonder how long it will take and if they could just focus on that and skip the rest of gingerbread, heh.

You might be able to somewhat get at least the look of ICS if it'll help ease your pain :)

Didn't try it on my TouchPad but the look is somewhat interesting

Alpha 2.1 has been good so far. Haven't had any SOD yet, no funky wi-fi issues, and am losing a little less than 1% of battery per hour of sleep (with wi-fi always on). Not sure what it was doing before, but decent imo.

I just flashed Alpha 2.1 and was pleasantly surprised that nothing got wiped and I didn't have to reenter any info. Loving it so far.

Yep, battery life for me seems significantly improved. Can't get enough of PanoPlanet Live Wallpaper. :D

I'm just waiting on swipe left and right web browser preware add-on update and I will be set. I find myself constantly swiping left and right on all my devices while browsing now to go back and forward on the web page. I wish Android/iOS had that. It's so convenient and makes for better browsing experience. Having to go up and press the back arrow on the browser sucks now.

I think I've mentioned this browser a ridiculous number of times at this point, but Atomic Web Browser allows for setting gestures. By default, two finger left or right switches tabs, but you can switch it to make it go backward and forward in your history.

I just feel that a tablet is a waste for CM7. I mean that's all we can do because Google fvcked up Honeycomb so badly, but I already have my phone. Doing everything on a 9.7" screen is dumb. You need Tablet optimized apps, and interface, and I'd prefer to read my email from WebOS than a giant Gmail that I can get on my phone already. The 2 panel Gmail from Honeycomb is needed badly...

I think the only advantage is Pulse News, but even then that's a phone app. They need something like Flipboard or something I can wake up to and easily consume content in the morning. Also, while the webOS Facebook app is meh, it's at least a tablet version. Having the Facebook app from my phone blown up on 9.7" isn't that cool. At least the iOS one is scalable from iPhone to iPad with the side scroll menu...

So the new alpha came out, I would just repeat the process?

I guess you could but the simple way is to download the 2.1 Alpha zip file and place it any folder and then reboot into Clockwork recoverymod and flash by selecting the zip file from there.

I actually rather enjoy some of the games on the larger screen. Pulse is nice also. Yeah it will be nice once there is tablet optimization, but it is what they can get right now. It works great for what it is, and will work fantastic I am sure once the driver bugs are worked out and ICS code is released.

Do you or anyone else happen to know the specific name of it?

Go to the market and do a search for live wallpaper and a bunch will show up.

Not on my TouchPad at the moment but doing it thru google it shows 10+ pages of live wallpapers. Not sure if you need
to install another app to do them or not.

Did you do the show all apps mod to the store? It helps alot finding things that for some reason are hidden on the TouchPad or show up as non-compatable.

Ahh, thanks Welshbloke and Kenmitch. I admit to loving animated backgrounds. I like Dreamscene on my Windows 7 desktop and would like it for the mobile devices too. I appreciate it.

I haven't really experienced anything significantly problematic with webOS, but the lackluster of (free, and/or quality) apps for it reduced this great hardware to just a browsing/skyping machine for me right now.

is this guy saying you can do video skype in webOS? i didnt see a skype app but then i didnt look very hard. even better, how bout in CM7? im guessing theres a skype app but the camera still doesnt work right?

Yes, and it works really well. Skype is completely integrated in webOS, so you will not find a 'Skype app' anywhere.

All you need to do is add the Skype account (I think it's in 'account'?), and then you can make a call from the 'phone/dial' app. Your Skype contacts should show up there after it syncs so you can make a call from the Contact tab, or you can just dial directly (if you're calling a telephone).

Unfortunately doesn't Skype bundle with all your accounts? webOS was nice to have a list of accounts, but you can't choose what to sign on and whatever. I don't want to be on gchat 24/7 on my Touchpad, and there are sometimes when I don't want AIM on. It's either one or the other unfortunately. All on or all off.

I thought this was the case at first, but I believe you can choose which account you want to be online with.

Go to 'Messaging', and if you click on your status ('Available', if you have it on), then there is an option at the bottom of the drop down menu for 'Individual Accounts'. You can then choose the status for each account.
