Question...Can a OCZ Powerstream 520 fit in athe V1100 ?

Thanx

The OCZ 520 fit into my V1000B which is the same case without the door, so I am sure it will fit into the V1100 also. You will just have to remove the second HD cage though, which is easy, by removing a few screws.

I like the look and the motherboard setup of the V-series better, but I think the new Stacker is better overall. If you have the money to blow go for it.

i bought a stacker 830 on monday and received it yesterday. i haven't had that much fun putting a build together in a long time. everything was toolless and easy after i RTM.

a general disclaimer of "do not get this case if you're limited on space" is in order because the thing is disastrously enormous. i upgraded from a Silverstone TJ03 which was previously the largest case i've ever had.

i left the two stock CM fans in and they're VERY quiet. the two 12cm fans i added are audible, but they were audible in the TJ03 which was sealed (no vents all over the place).

i also bought the crossflow fan for it and it mounts beautifully, they really did an exception job designing the case. the crossflow fan is a loud mofo, but i bypassed the regulator that came with it due to a shortage of molexes. i unplugged it for now.

when i get home from work i'll hook the fans i added to the built in regulator of my PSU (Antec TP2 550) and hook up the regulator from the crossflow fan as it will most likely be just as loud/quiet as my TJ03.

also of note, i could barely hear my Raptor chugging away due to the rubber noise dampeners on the HDD 4-in-3 module.

bottom line is, if you've got the money, and have to have the nicest/newest thing, go for it. i absolutely love it and have NO regrets.

sys:
Opty 175@2.65G
DFI LP UT NF4 SLI-DR
2G Mushkin@2-3-2-5-1T
BFG7800GTXOC
Audigy 1
2 Lite-On Optical Drives
1 Floppy
1 WD 80G-IDE | 1 WD 200G-IDE
1 WD 74G Raptor
Antec TP2 550W

temps are lower than in the TJ03 even w/o the crossflow fan on. when you let that crossflow take off however, temps drop a few C on CPU, PWMIC, Chip, and Vid... rediculous.

just for reference, the case holds up to 9 12cm fans, in theory this is great, but the practical side of it is, if you put ANY 5.25 or 3.5 device in, that number drops to 8. basically 1 12cm fan equals 3 devices, so if you have 3 opticals and a floppy, then you're down to only 7 fans, and the only intake will be the one that comes attached to the 4-in-3 module which has a very restrictive hole punch pattern, not to mention that if you put 3 or 4 drives in it, you have basically no air flow from the intake. so you'd definitely want to limit your optical drives to 3 so you can have a proper intake fan.

furthermore, if you choose to use the crossflow fan, then that number then drops from 8 to 6 (assuming 1-3 optical devices) as the crossflow takes up two spots on the fan side panel. this is fine because the crossflow moves enormous amounts of air that can be aimed straight at the PWM/Chip area, so it's worth it.

my setup has the original 12cm exhaust and 12cm intake over the HDD's
i added a (louder) 12cm exhaust up top and a (louder) 12cm intake in the front.
and of course the crossflow, but that's the only thing on the fan side panel, as i just don't think it needs any more fans. like i said, i'm going to put all the exisiting fans on regulators... there's just mounds of airflow in that case.

This cas seems like one of the if not the best for air cooling. Probably not so great for water. I think the other Stackers are geared more to water cooling.

I just ordered a 830 yesterday and luckily I found it and the crossflow fan somewhat reasonable at the same vendor in stock....that was tough. I am in MI and the vendor was in PA so luckily for me Fedex ground est. delivery is for tomorrow already! Woot!

Now on to the subject... I don't feel going watercooling is any waste at all. I am getting a sweet ass case and it has a TON of room for cusomization and plan on Watercooling it down the road (Maybe a few months.) I wouldn't be suprised to see a Maximum PC rig of the month based on an 830 in a few issues. LOL.

Like I said in another thread I got the TJ07, not one, but two !!!. I have a triple rad in one and a double rad in the other....no drilling needed !

Got any pics of that setup? I am thinking of running a triple up top, would love to see how that mounts.

Also where are you buying them ?

I am about this < > close to pulling the trigger on one. Monarch has the silver for $299, if I can find a black one for that price, I am on it.

You can check out my thread here.

You missed the crazy deal Monarch had on the black model. I think it was about $319 or so. Silver isn't bad though. I have both.

Nice !, thanks. so the BI III went in without a hitch then ? I think mounting it below is definately the route I want to go with it. I only have 2HD and 1 optical so removing the bottom cage wont be an issue.

The only other concern I have is cable length. I have a Seasonic S12-600, its cables are on the short side. Will definately have to get an extender of some kind for the 4pin 12VDC line.

I think next deal pops up around $300 I will jump on it. I emailed monarch about the black case, they dont even have it listed anymore.

So, anyone actually have an LL1100? Also curious myself about this case... I was most likely going to go with this one.

Just about to start my first build. Looks are very important as well as noise. Probably going with x2 4800+, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum NF4 Ultra...

mixman, what fan controllers are you using?

Those fan controllers are called Noise Isolators. They look great, but unfortunately they suck. They are not compatable with too many fans. They create a whining sound or motor noise when the fans are turned down. I am getting the Aerogate 1 from Zepper for one and a Sunbeam Lightbus for the other. I'll see if they are any better.

Thanks for the info mix. What did you use to mount your BIPIII rad down there? I think I saw someone ask in the other thread, but never answered.

Industrial strength velcro. It works well and doesn't move. Like I said no need for drilling or modding.......unless you want to. The only drill holes so far I have done were for the wheels, but as far as I am concerned they are a permanent mod anyway.
