Still a little sloppy, it'll be repacked after the rest of my drives come. Vertex 2 is working nicely in a 2.5-3.5-5.25 adapter stack 😀 Took exactly 16 minutes to install Win7 Ultimate 64 from initial file loading to usable desktop. Crikey.

Edit: Nice to see we've finally come out of the Bios Stone Age 😀 Love the setup menu and features of the board

Your H70 is pulling air from the top and discharging warm air into the case. That arrangement could be improved by installing either a duct to direct the air towards the rear fan. Even a few pieces of cardboard/plastic could be used to help assist the removal of the heat. 🙂

Yeah I realize that and had considered ducting, but the other 2 120s up top are also intake, and the exhaust is both in back and the access side panel. I used the bic lighter method to judge the path of airflow, and the air from the top seems to be sucked right out before it can float around the case too much. There's also a 230mm intake at the front still, so the top is not the only intake. The PSU is also drawing air from *under* the case and immediately expelling it out the back, so it's not contributing too much to ambient temps.
I'm going to see how it goes the first week or two, try to monitor it, then maybe change the configurations a little to see if it makes a difference.
 
I have a HAF 912 and I am very happy with it. I love the HAF X but I wouldn't be able to fit it in the space below my desk so i settled with the next best thing. The case fits all of my needs. It has two 200mm fans along with three 120mm fans and I can fit my Radeon 5970 in it without modding. For such a small case it packs a lot of punch for $60.00 dollars.

My HAF-X just arrived at work (with 2x EVGA 580 SC) and the case is enormous. My boss was shocked. Getting so excited about finally setting up this pc. I'll post my build in a week or so, and hopefully people will tear me a new one with respect to cable management (I truly suck at it).

He might be referring to mine...yeah, it's overkill for now, but I wanted the ability to add another 6950 without having to calculate my wattage. First time I followed the "go big or go home" method with my PSU, lol.

Yeah 950 is overkill, but I'm kind of with you on that. I had to upgrade my 650, I should have bought something like an 850 to begin with.
 
There really is no such thing as overkill - well ok perhaps a 1200W PSU on a single core Athlon with integrated graphics and a single HDD. 😛

Newer PSU designs are getting very good efficiency numbers even at very low loads so it's no longer a "requirement" to select a PSU so your average load is near the peak efficiency curve. There is nothing wrong with a ~1kW PSU in a system that only needs 800W. The PSU will run cooler and live a long life. Compared to running the same system off a 650W PSU where the actual load can hit 650W. Internal temperatures will be much higher when operating under those conditions and the probability of failure during the expected lifetime of the unit is most definitely higher.
 
I MAY build another (if I can sell a watch, I collect those too), will go HAF 942 if I do...MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!

It depends on how low you go. PSU efficiency ratings are only good down to 20% load. A lot of PCs that people build may only pull 200W or less during normal operation, and if they go throwing in some crazy 1KW+ PSU, chances are the efficiency might be awful. I don't think I've seen any tests for PSUs that went that low though....

The one thing that's interesting is that you almost have to buy a bigger PSU to get some of the higher quality or higher efficiencies, but the latter does make sense at least.
 
For those HAF 932 owners, is dust really an issue?

I'm torn between the CM 690 Advanced (has fan filters) and the HAF 932 (has no filters). Based on the reviews I've seen, the HAF provides much better overall cooling. The HAF-X is out of my price range, and as much as I want it, I just can't justify the extra cost.

The case will be sitting on the floor under my desk.

For me, dust is always an issue. I have to blow the dust out of my case once per month. Having filters would help that somewhat...but I'd have to clean the filters every week or two, or suffer the consequences...heat.
I was supposed to do the dirty today, but got lazy. If it's not raining tomorrow, I'll take the box outside and give it a good blow job...😛
It's in dire need of one. We live on the edge of the farm country here in California's Central Valley. I'm nearly surrounded by almond, peach, and dairy farms...and it's the dirtiest place we've ever lived. I vacuum my office at least once per week...and it still looks like this after a month:

Of course, in addition to all the dust/dirt, we also have 2 small dogs and one cat...all of whom seem to make it their life's work to shed everywhere...in copious amounts.

Yep. I've fought it for years. Not a damned thing I can do to prevent it...unless I clean the PC every week...🙄

(I normally vacuum off that side panel when I vacuum my office, but I intentionally let it build up for that pic.) :whiste: 🙄
 
Any thoughts on the best HAF case that can be set to totally dark?
My pcs sit in my media room and I do not want to have to turn off the gaming rig to watch movies on the projector.

I am eying the HAF X for local purchase but I'd need to have it "lights out" for at least some applications. I am open to a little modding but I don't want to do much to a case at this price. Plus I am much better with the command line than with power tools... lol.
