Clutch problems too

Recently I have been hearing a really bad "squeaking" noise from the clutch.

There aren't any operation-related problems. Just hte load noise when I rpess down on the clutch. I can only hear it wit the window down, but was still concenered as I dod not remember the noise from prior use.

Thanks

If you rest your foot on the clutch without depressing and you hear the squeaking noise, and it goes away when you lift your foot off the pedal, it sounds like a throwout bearing to me.

Same labor as a whole clutch job. Might be time to consider doing it.

I wish I would have thought of that. 😉
And 2 Chris' can't be wrong.

Appearantly this is a brand new clutch on my 1990 Honda accord..

I hear the stick as I press it in...

like an un-oiled door....

Soryy, should have expressed that better

Could be from the clutch master cylinder pressing on the throwout bearing, but that should go away. If it's still there in a couple of days, take it back.

Just to clarify, it doesn't make the noise when you just rest your foot on the clutch pedal? If you don't hear the noise then, it's not the t/o bearing.

No, it is not a continuous sound. Just sounds like a apring geing tightened up.....And the transmission is not EXACTLY new...my step brother had owned it...and before he did, the owner had put in in..maybe a year?

I guess I should worry about it....still, the squaking noise reminds me of something that needs oil

Thanks

Hard to tell from your description. I think you may want to have someone look at it. On the other hand, based on what you've told me and what I know, if you ignore it the worse that can happen is the clutch, pressure plate, and t/o bearing will need replaced and it will stop slipping.

See if the sound gets louder over the next few weeks if you can't afford to get it into the shop. If it stays the same, it could just be something that needs some lube. If it gets louder, get it into the shop and have a professional look at it.
