I have a P4 2.0 s478, 512MB RD-800 RAM (2x256 plus 2 CRIMMs) and a geforce 2 MX 400 AGP that will never see power in a system I plan to use. Let me know where it needs to get sent.

Thanks for updating your posts, it'll make the list a lot easier.

We can decide what to keep for the cluster as soon as we have a semi complete list.

the fx55 will need the 1gb ddr. I have a couple of old and crappy cpus: athlon tbird 1.2 and celeron 2.5ghz. Not sure if we want either of them, just lmk.

Is there a time frame of which we will be sending parts in? I'm having a bit of an issue... The 2gb (2x1gb) PC2-800 RAM in my machine decided to die, and I'm having trouble running programs and doing backups (Guild Wars fails, and it's corrupting all of my True Image backups, but the machine still crunches ).

If the RAM needs to be sent before I get the new RAM in (ordered yesterday), I'll pull it out of the machine and send it (I should be packing for our move anyway). Also, when I get the RMA'd RAM back, I'll have another 2gb (2x1gb) of PC2-800 RAM.

Just checking...

Hi Tom,

Here's more info on the MB, CPU, RAM that I have:

MB: Intel D915GUX
Video: On board GMA 900
RAM: 4 x 512Mb 533MHz DDRII
CPU: 3.2 GHz P4 w/ HT & Intel HSF

Here's a link to more info on the motherboard.

Since it's an Intel MB, no options for overclocking.

No I didn't look into that but it is certainly worth considering!

It's been offline now for several months and I was running linux at the time.

With Windows, a software OC would be an option!

Hmm. I've got a pile of 775dual-VSTA boards that I bought to resell at the flea, I could donate one or two of them to the cause. They take C2D chips. There seems to be modded BIOSes that might allow them to take certain 45nm chips, or perhaps that's limited to the 4coredual-SATA boards, I don't know. No onboard video, but they take PCI, AGP, and PCI-E video cards.

I've got two P4 rigs, 2.8Ghz S478, ASUS micro-ATX i865G mobo, and a Celeron 2.13Ghz S478, and another ASUS mobo. No ram for them, but they do have onboard video. I'm probably going to sell one of them to the neighbor, she said she "needs a new tower". Just waiting for her to put the money together.

I've also got a S939 NV6150 micro-ATX mobo that has severe DPC latency issues (mouse freezes briefly), that I'm going to be getting rid of and replacing with a second-gen AMD 780G board. I've got a 939dual-VSTA and 939dual-SATA2 mobo, and a DFI NF4 Ultima, and a S939 3200+, 3800+ (single core), and an Opteron 165. I also have 3 x 1GB DDR PC3200 DIMMs. I'm toying with keeping the Opty 165 and the DFI NF4 board (320FSB), and two of the 1GB DDR PC3200, just for old times sake, but I really don't need another rig. (I currently have two C2D E2140 @ 3.2Ghz, and I'm building two Q6600 quad-core monsters.) I wouldn't mind donating the remaining S939 stuff.

Edit: I have a few PSUs laying around too. One's a 350W CodeGen that was pulled from a working system, slightly dusty. That would be a fine PSU for an Athlon XP rig. I've got some other cheapo ones, I think a Logisys 500W and an HEC 585W, brand new. I've got some other nicer ones too, but I think I'd want some $$$ to part with them. ThermalTake 500W, CoolerMaster 500W, Earthwatts 380W. I think I still have a 450W Xion PSU (low-end) too, NIB.

The bold ones are the ones I suggest to keep.

Maybe some money donations will result in a 775 CPU or maybe a nice $/ppd nvidia gpu for Folding@Home.

Neurodog, PCTC2 and TurtleBlue proposed to host the cluster, is this still true? You'll need some cases (if you don't want to run them open), cheap electricity and the ability to access a paypal account.

Here again the basic ideas:
- the computers should be visible so everybody can track for instance their donated CPUs.
- the computers should be managed through an account manager like BAM!, both the operator and TAC (Team AnandTech Committee) should have the username+password
- the monetary donations should be in at least 3 month in advance, to give the operator some security
- the cluster will focus on a single project for a given period of time (1 or 3 month) decided by a poll on these forums

I recently moved and I don't know the cost of electricity here. We should get a tally of me, Neurodog, and TurtleBlue of electricity costs. I recently changed jobs so I would have to host at my apartment, which is fine (first I have to ask the people I live with) as long as people send money to help with the electricity bill. I'm a bit in debt but I refuse to give up on my computers (as you can see I still have a couple thousand PPD for F@H). I already have a "seller" paypal account. I can install a 64-bit linux distro and maybe write a script or two to make it visible on a webpage using screenshots and log files on a database. I have a webserver. I could give TAC a password to remote access via SSH or ssh-tunneled VNC.

Otherwise, I'm sure I have some parts around I can donate. I have a bunch of 20GB IDE Harddrives that are still useful, along with RAM and probably some more.

I have a 9800 Pro that works fine...

I mean, it does work, but i don't think you'll get it to get any ppd output.

I also have an ASrock Duel-SATA2 that probably still works.

The hosting is still fine for my house. The only thing is that I don't have too much time on my hands for managing them. I can make them visible from outside and someone could perform the maintenance and what not.
