had to go to the next town over today , its about 20 miles away. its a 4 lane divided highway, 2 lanes each direction, 65mph is the speed limit. about half way there is a left turn lane leading to a turn around to go back into my town.
as i came around the curve in the road just before the turn around some idiot was stopped in the fast lane trying to decide if he wanted to take the turn off back into town. i slammed on the brakes started sliding drivers door side right for the stopped car, luckily there were no cars in the right lane and i was able to steer for the shoulder. made it but it sure scared the crap out of me.
the other driver just went down the road like nothing ever happened.
Darwin please help me and take that fool off the road.

Yeah some people are unbelievable. About two months ago I was travelling on a fairly packed freeway. Everyone was doing 70+. I was in the slow lane because i had an exit coming up in about a mile. We pass an exit and the guy in front of me realizes that he wanted that exit, so he slams on his brakes and comes to a dead stop on the freeway. I slam on my brakes. I wasn't tailgating so I was going to be able to stop in time (with much tire smoke). However, I look in my rearview mirror and realize the big rig will have no chance, so I jump to the right and pass him on the shoulder. I see the big rig trying to stop and then finally does the same thing I do, trailer swinging wildly.

I have no idea how the guy didn't get hit by the big rig. But after it goes around him, and other people are coming to a screeching halt, I see in my rear view mirror that he does a small u-turn in order to get off on the exit he just passed.

I was going about 65(yes, the speed limit) on 99N from Fresno to San Jose yesterday.... i was in the right lane, left lane was completely clear for about a mile..... lady pulls out from a side street on the opposite side, right in front of me.....we didn't have smoke but it was close....laid on the horn for almost a minute and when we passed the lady looked oblivious to what had just happened...... she needs to NOT be driving

Haven't you guys realized, that driving is no longer a privilege, but has become a money maker for state governments??

Count it up:
1. fee for driver's license
2. fee for car registration and title
3. gasoline taxes (as well as federal highway funds from federal gas tax)
4. insurance you buy from company = taxes paid by that company
5. sales tax on car

What am I missing? I'm sure there's other things that could be counted. :hmm:

Bottom line? States don't care about how good or bad a driver you are, just whether you can afford to pay to drive. I swear, if you could teach a monkey to pass the written exam and road test, you could get them a license.....and in some states, you could probably even tell them the monkey needed an interpreter, in order to take the written exam!!

I see some silly things like that around here often. It's almost like drivers are completely ignorant to everyone around them. One thing I see around here a lot is usually when people realize that they missed a turn lane, you'll see them make the turn in the straight only lane.

I've had them get in my way a few times and thankfully, I was able to react and stop before I ended up running into them (or they into me).

2. fee for car registration and title

Oddly enough, my car registration fee went up this year. I have my previous year's form still, and my "assessed value" is higher. Wouldn't my car normally be worth less after a year? o_O

People around here are lucky I do not drive an old crappy car anymore. I would just pick the car that looks the most insured and plow into them when they do something stupid. ;)

ive sort of done that

used to drive a old volvo 240 wagon, finally got tired of people cutting inline in construction traffic. 2 lanes merge to 1 and some asshole drives way up the shoulder trying to cut in. that didn't work out o well for him and his 5 series took 95% of the damage as i gave him the finger and just drove on taking his front bumper and lots of paint with me

and no i did not stop and no ive never been caught for it

wait until you encounter someone reversing in the onramp to get off the highway.
