A longtime acquaintance walks in to my hospital wearing all these Shriner patches on his coat. I hadn't seen him for 2-3 years and I ask if he's still working in our town. He said that he's retired. I notice the patches and asked if he was at a recent parade, thinking that I'd follow up on questions about a Shriner mini car or bike, he tells me that he's a Shriner clown. Now, I vaguely remember some clowns at this recent parade, but before I can ask a question, he states that he'll be a clown for the town's Halloween activities. This kind of threw me, because he's a retired cop and when I asked him if he's still carrying, he said that he was. I said, "Wait. You’re a clown that carries?" He looked at me deadpan and nodded.
