can anyone tell me what type of jacket to buy
i'm in michigan and it's about to snow and i don't have a clue what to wear for this condition being from california
people tell me goretex stuff especially made by north face but i don't know which one to get

if anyone could give me suggestions to whihc north face jacket to get
or other brands
and maybe if any online store sells them that would be nice

thanks

Just a jacket for regular outdoor use? A Columbia or North Face would be good.

They use goretex a lot in snowboarding clothes because of it's excellent waterproofing and breatheability (sp?).

I just got a Columbia (challenge series I think it's called) Very warm zip out liner very nice. it was about 200 dollars. I live in northern minnesota, and it is a very warm stylish jacket. You can find 'em at Penneys, or any outdoor store.

Get a Noth Face shell. Then you can get a separate fleece one for insulation. Some of the North Face ones will zip into the shells, which is really nice. I love mine 🙂

Good places for Gore-Tex jackets online:
REI Their house brand is less expensive than TNF, Marmot, Mtn Hardwear, Arcteryx.
REI Outlet Clearance stuff. Selection is not as good, and sizes/colors are often weird, but great deals can be found.
Mountain Gear Probably the best selection of high end shells.
Patagonia They sell everything they make, in every color and size, over the web. They make a pretty wide range of shells.
