I was basically not allowed to eat in my parents' cars....what's the problem? Yes, my wife and I are those people too and we have a little one on the way.

Still, I've never really understood the prohibition on eating in a car. It's part of road-trip tradition. Granted, you have to be committed to cleaning things immediately if you spill, but that's not some big hassle. Though now that everything's going touch screen I can see a reason not to want greasy fingers.

I enjoy the smell of ass while driving in someone's car with cloth seats. Sometimes I even smell the seats. But yea, they're a pile of shit, unless you ain't got the budget.
 
Leather is much better because it doesn't wear out as easily.

If you want to save money get cloth, but if you plan on keeping your vehicle for 6+ years stick with leather as the retained value will be higher.
