I was at my local Service Merchandise when they went under and there was nothing. I think everything was marked about 10% off of the normal high price. Same thing with Fretter, Highland Appliance and another chain of stores that I can't even remember the name of now, when they went under. Most of the display stuff was trashed and wasn't hardly marked down. The prices could've been easily beat by any regular sale.

This is why I didn't even waste my time.

BTSpope, anything else good at the Delray store? That's like the 3rd closest store to my home, and if there's something worthwhile, I suppose I could drive down there.

I'm not even going to bother. I've been to these store "liquidations" before and I've never found a deal. Usually, the display stuff is in rough shape and it's not discounted that much. You'd be better off just buying new from a place like Newegg or waiting for a sale from other place for a new product.

I agree with that. I remember when Kmart folded in oregon... They had TONS of ads of store closing...etc...etc.... first of all I hate K-mart and went in just to check to see what kind of prices they had.... The biggest sales they had were 20% off but mostly 5-10% off and the place was packed with idiots filling the carts to the brim.

I don't get these people. Just because a store is closing and they have a 10% off on the price they act like they got it for 60% off or something. I have almost NEVER paid retail and I'd never want to be with 1000 kmart phreaks trying to get 10Cents off a bag of M&M's... It's a sad sight but I've been to other stores that were closing and never have I felt like there were good deals to be had.

Good luck to all hope you find something good...

The Indy store was lacking in it's offerings, prices, and help. They did have the Infinity TSS-750 speaker system for $339, list is $749. Not great, but not bad. Couple of joysticks for $5 each.

I saw some decent 'deals' on home audio receivers, and even some speakers... On the same token, those things take so much abuse in the store.

All in all, I almost bought a new 600w receiver for 179 that was packed with inputs, but I was talked out of it. All digital electronics were barely marked down... digital cameras and PDA's weren't exactly flying off the shelf. Y'think the prices will drop as they near the 23rd? Eh, prolly not.

Best Buy plays this game all the time. Have you noticed that in the Best Buy sales ad you'll see sale prices and then you'll see items with a similar tag with a price, but the price is a regular retail price? I think that they are counting on people thinking that this item is on sale because it's in the ad and not checking other stores for prices or checking retail prices. I also think that a lot of these people shop on Ebay. ;)

Radio Shack has got to take the cake though. Rat Shack is the only place that I know of that actually sells their stuff for more than MSRP. I was looking at a Linksys router a while back. They had the price marked at $89.99 and then the sale was for $20 off. The MSRP for the router was $79.99. That's what every store was selling the router at too.

This stuff was open box and the mark-down for decent deals was around 33% off the current price. Some stuff was marked down a lot less, but I didn't buy that stuff. There weren't computer deals and most of the peripherals (besides some computer speakers) weren't marked down much. But many TVs, receivers, HT speakers, HDTV tuners and some digital cameras were marked down a lot. I grabbed a Samsung SIR-T351 HDTV tuner for $199 in mint condition.

My cheap azz self just couldn't resist so I went at noon---it was pathetic! Several plasmas with screens covered with kid ____( you fill in the blank) on them. They had this Samsung for $2749 openbox--smeared screen included. Knock yourself out CC.

They did have a Replay 4504 for $109 but no activation.

Like several others, I wasted my lunch hour.:disgust:

I don't think your going to convince anyone here. I guess you think no one saw you at the kmart closing with your cart filled to the brim.
