The Trotwood, Oh one doesn't do much business either. Every time I go there there is less than 10 cars in the lot. Maybe 20 at Christmas. I didn't go to the last BF but the year before I showed up at BB to see a line of probobly 200 people so I went to the CC instead. There was probobly 20 people there.

I am going to go and see if I can get a deal on a home theater or another tivo. I love the one I got for $59 last October.

No, the Westwood store is closing!!! Icy Cold, as I've used it as an easy, free parking source! Hopefully some good deals to cover for the loss.

MD.

I did too, but lately they were forcing a $5+ purchase for validation.

I always thought The Good Guys would go under before Circuit City; I guess CompUSA has changed that.

Of course, this doesn't mean the end of Circuit City....yet.

good money? Quite a few made more than their store managers... 60-70k.....not bad for selling TVs

They nipped that problem in the arse by firing 3,900 highly paid commissioned salespeople and replacing them with 2,100 hourly rate employees.

I'm not even going to bother. I've been to these store "liquidations" before and I've never found a deal. Usually, the display stuff is in rough shape and it's not discounted that much. You'd be better off just buying new from a place like Newegg or waiting for a sale from other place for a new product.

I stopped at the CC in Fairlawn, OH this morning, and they said they wouldn't even be open till 2 or 3 pm today. They hadn't finished getting all the 'new' product off the floor, yet. I can say with confidence that I won't be sitting in their parking lot for an hour. Heheh! I smell impending disappointment.

I stopped by trotwood store and there was about as many cars as there are at Christmas. Said they would open at 2:00. I was hoping some of the others opened on time. I was checking to see if there were actually anything worth going back for.

I guess I will I would like to find a deal on home theater or tivo or both. ;)

CC > BestBuy. Though CC's customer service sucks now also since they dropped their commissions on sales.

Topeka, KS was packed, so I did not go in. My friends reported all the merch was gone, and they were just selling display models.

But did your friends say anything about the types of discounts? ;)

I just went back to the same store, and now they're saying they won't be open till 4pm. I'll be damned if I'm going to brave rush hour traffic and every hooligan who just got off work for a 10% discount. If it's cleaned out by tomorrow morning, it just wasn't meant to be. I give up.

I drove by the Topeka CC as well--no place to park and not worth the hassle. The one thing I did notice is nobody who was leaving seemed to be carrying any purchases to their cars. My guess is the deals are pretty limited for now.

I just got back from the store in Indy, and it was also packed. Not that many good deals, as most of the stuff had been picked over, but there were some decent prices on the high end audio equipement.

Certainly let us know if someone finds a deal. I highly doubt it though. I have yet to find a deal at a closeout sale like this.

PG, yep, the store by Target.

And 4 is the third time given to me, after 1 call and 2 visits. Every time I've gotten there, there were only about 5-7 cars; however, with everyone getting off work, and this little closeout announced on the morning news... well, I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of trouble with little reward.

Well there were some okay deals, the crowd that had built at the front of the store was big 50-60.
I got a kodak CX6330 for $149, which isn't a bad deal at all I really like it (but, then again I've been needing a DC forever). The better of the deals I got was a Memorex 57 inch tripod (to go with my new cam) that was marked down from $40 to $6.98 which is a really good deal IMHO. It seemed like there wasn't anything too outstanding though. They had so okay mark downs on TV's and I would have bought one if not for the fact that I am moving really soon. People from Best Buy were all over the place there including several managers.
All of the computers, LCD Screens and laptops were still too expensive (some of the laptops didnt look marked down at all).

For whoever is interested, the Brooklyn Center, MN store sucks as far as selection and prices are concerned. I dropped by and there was a few people here and there, and the selection was piss poor. The computers and laptops were marked down maybe $20 at most. There were no other computer products except for some display joysticks. Such a disappointment. Maybe it was because I was there at 3pm, but this so called "sale" was probably nothing more than a ploy to get people to go into their store.

People were scavenging the place like it was 90% off but it was only 10-20% off and almost everything was gone. Anybody who has the first clue about getting deals could beat their prices any day of the week. Don't waste your time. As already stated the laptops and desktop were not really marked down at all and were about the only thing left.
