me being a dumbass accidentally pushed the button in on a closet door and locked it, problem is i don't have a key for it, neither does the landlord.

didn't realize i even pushed the button in till it was too late.

do i hit it with a hammer and break the handle off or drill the tumbler or get a lock picking tool set and hope for the best.

i never used lock picking tools and couldn't find anything to unlock it at the local hardware store. if i break the handle, have to replace it at my cost..blah..blah..

looks something like this and the screws are on the inside, its an old lock put in long time ago and i have no idea why anyone would want to put a lock on a closet door.

i tried a barbie pin and paper clip, no good. any ideas?

Most closet doors open out, just pull the hinge pins.

You can use some paper clips to try to pick the lock if you have some time to waste and don't mind fiddling around for a long time without accomplishing anything. I've managed to pick 1 really poor quality pad lock this way. Honestly though like others said above the easiest thing to do is just drill out the screws or tumbler.

Wait... yeah like others said if you can see the pins just take the door off its hinges!

don't most bedroom/bathroom/closet locks not actually use a key? Isn't it just a slot or pin hole you can insert a screwdriver into?

Get 2 litre soda bottle.
Cut in half.
Cut section removed in half again from top to bottom so you have a crescent shaped peice left.
Use this between the door jamb and latch.
Win.
