Russia would be great. Hmm, find the exact distance and I'll paypal you 2 cookies if it's under 90miles.

Russia is nowhere close to the continental U.S.

BTW... Bahamas owns Cuba. It's 50 miles away

Alaska was part of the North American continent the last time I checked. 😛

technically, you're wrong because "in any country with an embassy" isn't the "continental us." smart ... person.

Wrong

in your link :
The continental United States is also used to refer to those 48 states plus Alaska.

Alaska is clearly, like the contiguous states, part of North America, and excluding it from the "continental U.S." must be described as a misnomer

Looks like it could mean both.

I never heard continental used to include Alaska before, however.

Embassies are sovereign territory of the nations they represent. The embassies are located in Washington DC. The last time I checked Washington DC was part of the continental US. Hell, Washington's army was the Continental Army.

However, I am incorrect not because of the continental part, where I am clearly correct and you are wrong. I am incorrect because they share a land border with the US.

wouldn't every country with an embassy not count then? would the nearest country we don't share a border with be NK? Iran?

Yep, that's what I said, except it isn't the answer to the question asked.

I don't think embassies would count unless they had a moat around them since
half of the question was "that doesn't share a land border with us?
"
