florida to cuba is about 95 miles
florida to bahamas is about 125 miles

edit: diomede islands which are part of alaska are about 20 miles from russia

once again, Alaska doesnt not count...

that's right. a tiny ass bahama island is about 50 miles from miami. one of the bigger ones is 65ish from west palm beach. i chose a really crappy one to measure first.
