I posted this as a reply to another topic, but that was 125 replies down so many of you may not see it. I figured I would just post it here.

Many of you will not be able to order from these companies, they do business with resellers, they generally will not sell to anyone without a resale licenee. Many of you have one and can use it to buy from them. For those who do not, drop me an e-mail and I'll order something for you at cost and have them ship it right to you.

This is EverTek's HomePage:
http://www.evertek.com/orders/order_form.asp

This is Synapse Micro's HomePage:
http://www.synmicro.com/

Both of these companies buy closeout deals on stuff (note the 3DFX stuff on Synapse's web site for exmaple), they do not carry normal inventory and when something is gone, it is gone. Until e-Bay got crowded with PowerSellers in 2000, I made a ton of money selling this stuff in late 1999 and early 2000 on e-Bay. :)

I tried to search for the previous thread but couldn't find it.
Can you post a link for previous thread so that we can refer to what others have to say about these companies?

My former roommate did some business with Evertek.

To me, their prices aren't that competitive for what they have.

An example is their memory pricing right now. buy.com beats them hands down. For lifetime warranty memory.

At times they have some decent deals you can make some money on. But, for the most part, if you follow the deals on this board here and at other deal sites, you can beat their pricing.

Yea, their component pricing (hard drives, RAM, etc.) is not always good, they are better for stuff like CD-Rs, DVD drives, CD-ROM drives, etc.

The main benefit to them is they have that odd lot that is a great deal, then you can also buy in large quantity (which is what they want). With so many other deals, they do not want you to buy lots of them.

As for the CD-Rs for example, their marked price is .19 each, but I assure you if you wanted 10,000 of them the price would be less. :)

Anyway, I was just trying to help, thought it might be useful. :)

The thread was about the CD-R deal at Amazon.

I've done business with both of them for years, they are standup professional companies with real wharehouses (they stock everything they sell, they also buy good deals so you can make money in reverse, find a good deal and sell it to them)

If you want to sell Synapse something, give David Hart a call at Ext. 210, he is a really good guy who takes care of things...

Nice..

Thanks for posting this to the general public.

BOTH of these companies are wholesale ONLY, meaning 99.9% of the people here can't buy from them, and now 99.9% of them will expect to get THAT pricing from other END USER dealers. These sites make money off of VOLUME, not spending 20 minutes explaining to an end user that they can't buy the one thing they want.

Unlike some other people I appreciate your posting the link and the offer. Thanks! :) Checking out the sites now. Been thinking about getting a resale license.

Hey jehh:

I wasn't meaning to be negative. Just called it as I saw it.

As I wrote earlier, sometimes Evertek has some decent deals.

And yes, thanks for the links.

Thanks for the post I just want to point a few things I noticed on the prices.

Synapse Voodoo4 4500 $90
I got one at Office Depot last month for $85

Evertek External SCSI case w 2 bays and 40watt PS $21 20lb shipping.
Computer Geeks sells the exact same thing for $12.50 and 12lbs shipping.

I only notice these two items as I have a Voodoo4 and was looking for an external SCSI box.

Yep, sometimes the deals are not the best.

I think Synapse overpaid for the 3DFX cards, they have had them for several months now. The truth is this, many of their prices are set that way for a reason, they really don't want to sell one of them. Buy 200 cards and the price drops, take them all and you can get a great deal. :) Those are volume companies, they want to sell hundreds of an item, they love take all deals. That being said, not every deal they do is good. Sometimes they over pay for an item and it sits around for awhile. The trick there is to give your sales person a call and haggle with him, then beat him on the head until he sells it for less. :)

I've been buying stuff from Evertek for 3 years, and they often have really good deals. Unfortunately, they are wholesale only, and the prices are based on quantity. They also don't have a huge selection. (you usually can't build a whole PC from their parts). They mostly have surplus items, which is great if that's what you're looking for.

However, I noticed last week that they have the same exact same street address as Computergeeks (both companies recently moved), and often have many of the same items. I have received excellent service and products from both, and computergeeks does have a fairly complete selection for a basic system.

Well isnt that odd. I was looking at the external SCSI box at CompGeeks and they have the exact same product description.
