Closeout at Staples for Cutis Surge protector power strips

Happened across some power strips at the local Staples in NY, and they had some unmarked closeouts:

Curtis SP700-7TN 1240 Joule strips rang up at $2.40 each, (7 outlet with phone and network protection)
7 outlet

Curtis SP 8200T2 1736 Joule outlet strips at $3.60 each (9 outlet with two line phone protection)

Curtis SP8200TN 2163 Joule strips were $4.60 (9 outlet with phone and network protection).
9 outlet

For some reason, the cheap 7 outlet strips without the network protection was $10 (?)

They have the outlets nicely spaced for plugging in transformer bricks, and seem decent quality.

The Staples I went to had enough for me to use the 10 off 30 coupon to boot..

Checked another store and they didn't have any there though, so it might be hit or miss-

Huh, my staples only had the T, not the TN, and for 9.99, nothing less. Bummer.

My local Staples had the Power 9, with phone and network, for $3.90. But alas only one left, I had wanted two. My wife will be by the other Staples in town tomorrow to check it out. But wow, 9 outlets (all able to take wall-warts), phone, and cat5 cables thrown in, its a steal at $3.90!!! Winegerr thanks for the post!

Thanks so much, I've just been looking to get another power strip and prices out there range from 10-25 dollars! I picked up the last 2 at my store!

Thanks for the info... I always need power strips, and so I went to three different Staples stores to find the clearance items (one of them had none), and ended up buying four of each! (for my own use). The SP8200TNs had shelf price tags of something like $49, but they rang up at $4.60... The SP8200T2's had a shelf price tag of around $39...

OH Yeah, I got in on this deal in Tulsa. I got two 7 outlet SP700-7TN's & two 9 outlet SP8200-TN's. Total was $12.40 and I used a $10.00 off $10.00 coupon. The coupon rang up as it being out of file, but the hot check-out girl went and got the manager and he put in his employee # and his pass & then punched in $10.00 and the total came to $2.59. Oh what a sweet deal & the last 4 on the shelf already with a clearance tag over them.

i got 2 SP8200-TN's and 2 SP8200-T2's great find! now i can sell 'em to my roomies for $5.. =) Great find! you can never have to many surge protector!

Well look at it this way. A surge of electricity can come in on any line. Be that phone or cable or power. Now your cable modem or DSL modem is hooked up to one of those right?(ok two of those; power and something else) Well your cat5 comes out of your modem into the surge protector then to your puter and ta'da' your "protected". Any piece of equipment could be hit at anytime, from any wire that enters your home. The equipment does not have to be high power. These will not stop a direct lightning strike of course, but they will stop small surges.

ah that makes sense, guess i need a dsl connection to benifit from that was wondering why i would need it for a simple home network anyways, the network cable that comes with it is worth about 4 bux at frys alone

The network protection might have saved me when lightning came in on my phone line, took out the phone line, modem, also took out the router that it was connected to, through the RS-232, and also took out the port on the router that my computer was to, and finally the network card to boot.
A transformer brick that my cordless phone got fried, and it zapped through to the cordless phone.

When I looked at the phone interface box on the outside of the house, I would have sworn it was vandalism, because the cover was blown open (looked like someone pried it open), and a blob of mud was in the socket, with the connector dangling.

I wonder if even the surge protector would have saved it in this case, but it couldn't hurt.

Nice that these surge protectors even came with an extra Ethernet cable and a phone cable- nice bonus!

The SP700-7te are only .90 got 2 of them, didn't want to be too greedy Also picked up a tn. They had a few left at the corona staples. Thanks for this deal!

I went to the N. Peters store in Knoxville, Tn....they were out, but I found some in the Oak Ridge, Tn store....I bought all 4 they had.

Just snagged three of the Power 9s from the Yonkers NY store. Added the Tonka Power Tool PC game for my son (marked down from $40 to 20) to put me over $30, then applied the 10/30 coupon.
