I think you've got the OP all wrong. HE wants to be with Clooney. He now thinks he's got a shot!

Actually, I personally think George is bi at the very least. I met him on the set of Leatherheads and he came to a few of the events I went to that the production crew had (birthday parties, etc.). He pretty much ignored the ladies, his gf was never on set, or in the area for that matter. And he took a real shine to his stand in, a guy that I was working with.

JMHO though. If he is that way it really doesn't matter. He can do/be whatever the hell he wants. I do have much respect for the man for his U.N. work.
