Cloning SSD's in RAID 0

I've got two Intel 80G X25M SSD's on order, both will be configured in a RAID 0 volume for the OS, Windows 7 (64).

Being there's no current TRIM solution for these drives in a RAID set, I'd like to proceed as follows:

- Install OS (along with all current Windows updates, patches, fixes... etc.)
- Install those applications I use frequently; namely Photoshop CS4, Lightroom, QuickBooks
and a few others, all on the same partition as the OS.

Once everything's installed and configured, I'd like to clone the RAID drives and use that stored image if/when my drives performance degrades to any significant degree. I will be creating a spare area on the drives as was suggested in a recent AnandTech article regarding two Intel X25 V's in a RAID 0 set.

Would writing the cloned image to the same drives (once they've been wiped), serve as a viable workaround, at least until the TRIM command is supported for RAID (hopefully in the not too distant future)? Being I won't be writing a tremendous amount to these drives, I'm hoping clone or re-install options shouldn't be necessary, not in the near future that is.

If anyone's tried this and had any luck or any suggestions...

Thanks!

I am about to do this with my SSD raid Array. I have 4 128gb SSD's in raid 0 and want to upgrade the Firmware on the SSD's so I am going to use 0&0 Diskimage to create an image on an external 1TB drive and then make the boot CD with the raid drivers for my Highpoint card so that I can load the image back onto them after I do the firmware.

The critical part is that you need to have the raid supported by the software you are going to use for the clone when you go to reload the drives as it needs to be done thru the array. Its possible that you might get away with doing a bit for bit image of each drive on its own them putting the image back on each one but that is a bit risky.

Before I load the new firmware I am going to boot the recovery image and make sure the array shows up and that I am able to restore the image so I do not wipe it and then not have things set correctly for the reimage
