I need to clone my old Toshiba Tecra S1 harddrive as it is in the early stages of failure. It was suggested to me that Clonezilla is a good freeware choice but I have never had to clone a HD before so I wouldn't know a good cloning software from a bad one, regardless if they were free or cost $.

I just need something free, simple, and reliable. So, go with Clonezilla or something else?

Thanks.

works fine
less hand holding than say true image, but if youve ever used boot discs and old versions of ghost this is nothing hard to do. read the sites instruction on making boot media.

read the directions and descriptions on each page..and u'll be fine.

driveimage xml will do it while in windows...its an option.

i just bought a 1.5 TB hd and use this to clone my 80 gig hard drive to it (which was my C: drive). i then replaced my old 80 gig with this newly written to drive.

it worked nicely, but i had to use the vista cd to repair the new hard drive once i tried booting from it. but once i did that and waited for the checkdisk program to run everthing seemed fine.
