CloneCD 4 won't accept my serial # from CloneCD 3

I had CloneCD 3 sucessfully installed and running.

Then I tried to upgrade to CloneCD 4. But I didn't see an option to just upgrade, so I selected 'full install', which removed CloneCD 3 and then installed CloneCD 4. However, my serial # was not carried over.

So now when I run CloneCD 4 it says trial version. And when I put in my CloneCD 3 serial, it doesn't accept it (it says serial invalid).

What had I done wrong or am I missing?

Did you read their FAQ online?

Also, why did you try posting here first instead of contacting them first?

YaKuZa, last I checked this was a forum of computer users helping each other out with problems. Has that changed?

I didn't see an answer to my question on their website FAQ's. And I didn't find one here in the forums. Thus I posed the question hoping that someone else out there might have had the same experience.

Obviously that is not you.

And, no I didn't e-mail their support, because last time I did that I never got a response, and I tried 3 times.

But hey, thanks for you help.

It appears that you may not be dealing with a free upgrade. Email the maker or call them up and ask the question. If it is a free upgrade, your old S/N should work. If not, you need to buy a new one or get one from the maker.

In the meantime, if you need the program, uninstall 4 and put 3 back in.

I could be wrong but I believe version 3 keys are only good on version 3 builds since they are considered patches/updates to the software you bought. Version 4 will probably cost you a little for an upgrade since it is considered to be a whole new piece of software.
