Clone Dvd

Hey guys! When I back up a dvd, it takes about 15 minutes to create the dvd files onto the hard drive. The problem is, sometimes it takes up to 40 minutes to write it onto a dvd :-\. It usually takes about 10! What could be causing this huge increase in time? Thanks in advance!

Is this with the same media on the same drive?

If it is movies you are backing up, might it be a dual layer original that you are copying to a regular DVD+/-R? In that case, the movie has to be reduced in size to fit on the DVD and that takes time.

Yes same media with the same drive. It is slow when it is burning from the hard drive TO the blank disk though ;(
