clock turns backwards every shutdown and turn on

on my friends laptop, for example it is 2:30 and she turns off her laptop. After 2 hours, she turns on her laptop and the clock SHOULD SAY 4:30 but it says 3:30 instead. Everytime she shuts down and turns it on again, it goes back an hour. any solutions?

New Bios battery?.....or perhaps turn off automatically adjust for daylight savings if applicable?
