I was wondering if anyone would know where I should focus my efforts to alleviate symptoms of stuttering for complete smooth gameplay. I have mostly smooth gameplay about 60-70% of the time playing Doom3 and Far Cry (no stuttering in HL2 oddly 99% smooth). I dont know if it is of any relevance but I have noticed the stuttering in Doom 3 only occurs when FPS dips below 50. Have also considered I have a 27 inch LCD and have more pixels to fill per unit as opposed to most others using 17-21 inch LCD's. Could anyone offer any technical insight as to how to achieve 95% or more smooth gameplay? Clock card higher or ditch monitor all together maybe?
PS I usually play at 1024x768 with medium AA/AF (usually 4AA/4AF) -
dimension 8400 - P4 (3.4ghz)
1 gig DDR2 ram - 80 gig HD
6800GT clocked at 400/1100 (stable no artifacting) temps idle at 58 - 75-77 under load
400 watt Antec PSU
Syntax Olevia 27" LCD - 12ms response - using 85hz refresh
