Clock is Speeding Up; Why

The clock on my computer is going faster and faster each day. I think I read somewhere that that happens when the onboard battery starts to run out of steam. Can I just change the battery to fix this? Do I have to do anything else to protect my bios settings? Thanks for any information.

your bios will reset to its defaults once you remove the battery.

So if you are not totally familiar with your bios settings and arent sure , then write them all down before removing the battery.
Or better yet, take some pics of all the bios screens and settings with a camera. (its faster...LOL)

And just to be sure first, at your desktop, right click on the time in your taskbar and select adjust date and time.
And check to see if your pc is set to automatically synchronize with time.windows.com.
