I have read that the 7600 GT operates at lower clock speed when running in 2-D mode. Would you please tell me these reduced clock frequencies for both core and memory?

Also, I don't know if the 7600 GS is also running at reduced clock speed in 2-D mode. Can anyone confirm this and what the reduced frequencies for the 7600 GS' core and memory would be?

Thanks

all cards run in lower frequencies for 2D mode, at least all modern cards

if rivatuner is correct, my 7600gt doesnt underclock in 2d mode  it stays at 580mhzcore/1500mhz memory all the time

I was asking the question because...

I have only NVidia 6150 Integrated Graphics, for now, but have enabled Coolbits. In the Clock Frequency Control panel, I see that I have the same core frequency in 2-D and 3-D (475 MHz),

I have tried lowering the 2-D core clock frequency but any change is refused. Same for an increase of only 1 MHz

Not that I am clamoring for a decrease in performance :disgust:

I am planning to add a 7600 Series card and wanted to know the behavior of the GT and GS cards' clocks in 2-D, as all reviews and specs always mention only 3-D clocks.

You might not be able to alter the frequency on your 6150 because it's using so little power anyway, and probably needs a decent frequency as it's only 2 Pixel Pipes, even for 2D. I have been wondering what the 2D clocks for a 7600GT were myself, but I've seen some posts mention it stays the same as 3D - which is a shame, as there isn't much point running it beyond around 300Mhz for a 2D mode seeing as it has 12 pixel pipes.

I think (not sure) I remember seeing, in a web review around the time the 7600 GT came out, that the 2-D clock of that card is around 300 MHz. This is the info I am trying to confirm in this topic, as well as for the 7600 GS.

For some reason, I seem unable to get a definitive answer, although I understand that it should be easy to get this info with Coolbits enabled.

How to enable Coolbits
