I did some technical riding when Igot my first mtb and after spinning the pedals around and nailing my shins about 10x I went out and bought clipless (I don't know why they call them that) pedals and shoes.

I promptly fell over like a complete ass the first time I used them, and once again after a long road ride when I forgot I had them, after that I got used to them.

Anyway, you don't need them, but, maybe wear shinguards?

<=== Stumperjumper! (circa 1993 model)

And i was looking at these myself, but if you want more of a platform, could look at these guys

My biggest problem is shoes, there isn't much for local dealers, and well, Euro sized shoes and ordering without trying on first is abit bad.

EDIT:
We need a specialized fanclub
Ditto :thumbsup:

Well I just got back from Mt. Killington, in Vermont. I can say you guys were right. With this 4200 foot mountain with a gondola to bring you up to the top, all the riders wore platform pedals. I am glad I have platforms. 🙂
