It's just verbage. In the military we used the term magazine for both weapons (rifle/pistol). We never used the term "clip". We don't call them bullets either.....they are "rounds". As in a "round" of ammunition.

A magazine is a fully enclosed device used for rifle or pistol. It fully contains the rounds it holds (like what you have for your 1911). A clip is just that; it holds the rounds from one end, gripping them from the ejector groove (like what was used on a WWII vintage M1 Garand).

Its a magazine not a clip, Rounds instead of bullets. Bullets is something a cowboy would say. (cowboys =undisciplined hot headed guys that gets people killed)

Clips are what they call them on TV and mags or magazines is what they are called in real life... unless all your learning comes from TV. :p

Another term TV loves to mangle is "semi-automatic". It's amazing how many crimes are committed by people with "automatic" handguns. Automatic sounds so much sexier than "semi-automatic". Too bad automatic handguns start at around $3,000 with proper permits and the average crackhead will never even see one.

But shells don't move, unlike bullets. :)

Heh back when Jose Canseco was picked up for whooping on his wife, the news reported that the police "found an automatic assault pistol" in his vehicle. Was something like a S&W 5096.
