First lady is just the president's spouse, not an accountable position of power that requires oversight. If she served on panels, those panels should have kept their own records, not expect Hillary to keep them.
True, but when the President's spouse chooses to enter the political fray, documentation respective to those activities should be made available as they are relevant.

Hillary's activities as First Lady extended far beyond that of a spouse holding tea on the White House lawn.

Apparently, these records WILL eventually be made available in the Clinton library...so why the delay in releasing said records until AFTER the 2008 election?

Because you have no entitlement to those records. We are talking about her personal phone logs and schedules. She can choose to release her personal records to whomever she chooses and when she chooses, or not release them at all.

Gee, another monkey flinging poop thread. Is it true that the GOP has a team of people whose sole purpose is to scour the country for up and coming democrats and to start building up stockpiles of dirt just in case they ever run for offices > than at the local level?

Its called modern politics, I wouldn't be surprised if both sides did that.

yep, it's the nature of the beast. As for Hillary, my thoughts are that she's already faced the fire of negativity from the right wing and anything potentially damaging to her run has been out front for sometime....

To wit, it's just not enough to derail her becoming President....

I think a big ado about nothing. reading the article, it seems that its just a matter of time to process all the files and papers. Much will be redacted as it should. If and when Clinton makes an active effort to block specific items, then maybe there's a story. Otherwise, ho-hum...

It's called trolling... I can barely read this message board thanks to it.

How Hayabusa Rider mods this board is beyond me :p

It's called "Executive Priviledge" you know that same thing your hero uses all the time

Dave, who is my hero?

BTW, you voted for Bush more times than I did... well done!

JD50, you made me spit my drink on my keyboard. Thanks. If you spent even a hundredth of the time you spent trying to find things that make Bill Clinton look like a traitor on looking for things that make Bush like a traitor, you'd be on my side in a heartbeat. I mean, all one basically needs to do these days is get his/her head out of his/her ass.

I don't really care about what Clinton did, just making a point, thats all. BTW, don't give me that much credit, I just googled "Bill Clinton lies", clicked on the first link, and copied and pasted. If the "lies" of GWB are going to be brought up with the exact same post in every thread, even if it has nothing to do with GWB, then its only fair to bring up the lies of Clinton. Just trying to keep P&N "fair and balanced". ;)

Don't worry, you don't have to clarify that you cut and pasted something, noone is actually assuming that rightwingers think for themselves.

Says the braindead idiot that gets all of his "insults" from DailyKOS....

Edit - BTW, I was responding to another post, seems pretty evident from the way I used the quoting feature, so STFU.

Yawn, I never even read Kos. But it's nice to see that rightwingers are moving on from their obsession with Clenis to Kos.

This is hoot....if she gets elected, it's more "missing" records, and "I have no independant recollection" and "depends on the meaning of the word..."

Archivists say the documents at her husband's presidential library won't be released until after the '08 vote.

yep, open, accessible, accountable. served on govermental panels, but we can't know what she said or did...

outstanding...

In his first year in the White House, Bush issued an executive order giving presidents, vice presidents and their heirs the power to block the release of White House records. That order sealed White House records that have been public dating back to the Watergate scandal that brought down the Nixon administration in the 1970s.

Hillary doesnt have any experience in leadership.
She stole furniture from the whitehouse.
Lead the debacle for healthcare in the whitehouse which failed.
Mysteriously cause Rose law firm records to appear from nowhere while in the white house.
Was somehow involved in travelgate.
Covered up for her lying cheating husband who she did not divorce.

How does a two term senator have enough experience to be the next president?

So, did the last point you made keep you from voting for W? I'm guessing... not.

To be honest, it really is a pity that heartsurgeon got to this story first. The story is actually interesting -- if not somewhat innocuous -- and we might have had a good discussion...

Now, somehow this thread has become about Bush...

We don't judge their actions as right or wrong we judge their actions by what someone on the other side of the aisle has done.

"Well... Clinton did such and such and it was worse than what Bush did so Bush's actions are ok..."

It will get worse and we, the people, will do nothing about it. The people on the right will bitch when the people on the left do it and vice versa. I don't see the two sides ever coming together to fix the problem.

Exactly. Each side uses the other side as a smokescreen and it works. Just look at this thread ;)

Well Hillary sure isn't running on her record of accomplishment (other than voting to give Bush the authority to invade Iraq, does anyone remember anyother vore she has cast, or a bill she has sponsored????)

Bill Sponsorship & Cosponsorship

Statistics: Hillary Clinton has sponsored 329 bills since Jan 22, 2001, of which 285 haven't made it out of committee (Very Poor) and 2 were successfully enacted (Average, relative to peers). Clinton has co-sponsored 1620 bills during the same time period (Average, relative to peers).

Some of Clinton's most recently sponsored bills include... (View All)
S. 1343: A bill to amend the Public Health Service Act with respect to prevention and treatment of diabetes, and for other purposes.
S. 1480: A bill to amend title 38, United States Code, to provide for the payment of a monthly stipend to the surviving parents (known as "Gold Star parents") of members of the Armed Forces who die during a period of war.
S. 1485: A bill to impose tariff-rate quotas on certain casein and milk protein concentrates.
S. 1444: A bill to provide for free mailing privileges for personal correspondence and parcels sent to members of the Armed Forces serving on active duty in Iraq or Afghanistan.
S. 1452: A bill to amend the Public Health Service Act to establish a national center for public mental health emergency preparedness, and for other purposes.

True enough, however it's pretty clear this thread wasn't about the issues isn't it? :p

She is also running for President of the United States, at which point data and information most citizens consider "private" become fair game for the political arena.

No they don't. Bush still hasn't told us what kind of drugs he did in the 80s.

Hell, look at almost any topic in P&N for a plethora of examples.
